Have you heard of Visceral Fat? Do you have it?
Not only is it unsightly but it’s dangerous to your health!
If you’re stuck on your fat loss journey or having some of the health concerns listed below, please continue reading.
Visceral fat is toxic fat as it makes chemicals and hormones that can be toxic to the body.
Unlike subcutaneous fat that you can see quite easily near the surface of the skin it is hidden deep inside your body on and around your vital organs, including your heart, liver and intestines.
Belly fat is a sign of metabolic syndrome, which may include high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol, and insulin resistance which in turn may cause strokes, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.
Excess belly fat can be the cause of dementia, cancer, asthma, liver and gallbladder disease, gout, fertility problems, lower back pain and osteoarthritis and many other health issues including lack of energy and cognitive problems due to toxicity.
As well as the physical health issues there can be mental ones as those with the unwanted fat pockets feel unattractive which can lead to low self-esteem, low confidence and depression.
The main cause of visceral fat is eating too many kilojoules and not burning enough with exercise. Those who are more likely at risk of storing visceral fat are males, females who have reached menopause, those who had a low birth weight, with a genetic predisposition and people who drink too much alcohol or eat too much sugar.
Your waist measurements could be a clue that you have too much visceral fat. For women it should be less than 80cms and for men less than 94cms.
So what can you do about it?
The usual recommendations are to become more active with at least 30 minutes of exercise most days. Eat a healthy diet, don’t smoke, get enough sleep, reduce (or eliminate) sugar and sweet drinks as well as alcohol.
Medical prescriptions are often prescribed which all have side-effects and can cause even more ailments,
If you are looking for faster results there is a new natural, herbal approach which you just add to any beverage once or twice a day to help you burn fat for up to 9.5 hours. No extreme diet needed.
As a Naturopath, I still suggest for optimal health eating foods rich with nutrients, drinking pure, clean water and getting some exercise, preferably out in the sun, however you can still get fat loss and many health benefits and improvements without dieting when taking this herb.
