Our Story
Eastern Suburbs Hydrotherapy, one of the self-help groups associated with Musculoskeletal Australia (formerly Arthritis & Osteoporosis Victoria), was formed in 1984 with the goals to support, assist and educate people with Arthritis and similar conditions, in particular people who are also working.
The group is run by a committee of members who volunteer their time.
How does Eastern Suburbs Hydrotherapy achieve these goals?
1. By conducting evening Water Exercise Classes. These classes are held under the supervision of a Physiotherapist and/or warm water exercise leaders trained by Musculoskeletal Australia.
2. By liaising with Musculoskeletal Australia, who supply information on current research and hold information workshops.
3. By giving peer support to members on Monday and Thursday nights at the pool
Who can attend the Water Exercise classes?
Classes are for people with musclo-skeletal conditions such as Arthritis or similar conditions who have been assessed by their GP or specialist as potentially benefiting from the gentle exercise program.
A Doctors Referral will be required once a class position is assigned to you.
Ability to enter and leave the Exercise Pool unaided is essential.
