We know that our communities have numerous needs, some of them complex, but all are addressable by delivering services close to home, in a culturally relevant way, and that keeps them out of the hospital or other high-acuity services. Through a single point of contact, individuals can connect to a full spectrum of care and support. We provide a diverse range of services to the community including General Medical and Dental Services, Home-based Aged Care, Family Services case management, Alcohol and Drug counselling, Gambler’s Help counselling, Generalist counselling, Financial Counselling, Acquired Brain Injury case management and community-based recreational programs, Allied health therapy services, and Health Promotion. Under the sunny skies⭐ of Wadawurrung Country and after a moving Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and Yidaki (digeridoo) performance by Corrina Eccles and Tristan “Pancakes” Harris, we officially unveiled the Journey of Connection mural at our Wyndham Vale campus on Friday 28 November.

It is now a permanent and vibrant feature of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health lounge.

As the artist who created it, Aunty Sue Kuhl noted, the mural is significant and marks the space as a safe place for current and future generations to gather. This sentiment was also shared by IPC Health CEO Jayne Nelson, who said: “Victoria [has] recently signed Aboriginal Treaty, [and] our new mural is a visible commitment to honouring the deep, enduring connection of First Peoples in Victoria to this land and to walking together in truth, respect and self-determination.”

Also speaking at the event, John Lister - Labor for Werribee MP praised IPC Heath’s continued work in improving health in Melbourne’s west and building spaces for community to gather. “We are on a journey for the future, all of us working together to build spaces and bring people together.”

IPC Health continues working with partners - including Victorian Department of Health, the Western and North Western Public Health Units, Western Health, cohealth and V***A - Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency - to deliver holistic, integrated and culturally safe care to First Nations people across Melbourne’s west. 💛🖤❤️ .

Harassment, intimidation and abuse happen every day - it needs to stop.

Let it stop with you. If you see abuse online, call it out.

A physical space may hold our bodies, but it's so much more. It is where we gather, connect and hear each other’s stories.

On Friday we’ll unveil the ‘Journey of Connection mural’ in the courtyard of the Aboriginal Health Lounge at our Wyndham Vale campus. Created by Aunty Susan Kuhl with the help of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the mural highlights the Lounge as a culturally safe place for connection. Aunty Sue notes: “This mural is for the next generation coming through. I want them to be proud of who they are and where they come from.”
