Heard a young man, the grandson of the founder of 40 hr famine, say on TV, that "In a world where everyone is addicted to everything, letting things go is going to be one of the best skills that you can have"

Wow yes I agree and feel confident that our future is well with young thinkers like this.

Letting go is also a fundamental premise of Stillness Meditation Therapy, I am busy completing teacher training in this profound, 'tried and tested' practice that leads to a calmer life and indeed letting go. We all need more of that in life! 😍

This T-TALKS is about finding certainty about a career path or on it. It was inspired by a conversation I had with someone - essentially about young adults finding their way with their careers. In my years of work in HR and as a career coach, I have yet to meet someone who had it all figured out or planned from the start. The usual path is you start somewhere and take it from there. The path is determined by the options and opportunities that present themselves, both those you take and those you leave. A career is made and planned ‘in action’ as you go both during study and the workplace.

For me, my career started with studying Psychology, with lots of waitressing and hospitality to pay for my studies. At 21 I opened my first business - a restaurant called The Quarterdeck (with my mum, I couldn’t have predicted that!). And then overseas travel, more hospitality and finally at about 23, my first ‘proper’ role as Personnel Manager of a hotel. Each of those experiences set me up for what followed although I couldn’t have known it at the time. I certainly didn’t plan it that way, looking back it was one helluva ride and an adventure and that was only just the beginning for me.

So the message is - trust yourself to walk the journey, to make good decisions along the way and let go of things that don’t align with you or your values. The only thing you can really control along the way is you! What you do, think and say.

Enjoy the read – probably only 2 mins.

Its natural to want it all planned and worked out, unless you are a super 'in the moment' spontaneous person. For most of us certainty brings comfort. The only certainty in life is to trust yourself and your decisions enough to know that 'it' will become clearer on the path. Doors open and close - it is about taking opportunities as they arise (you can't plan that out)....

Gratitude journal! 📝 So interesting to read back on what I was grateful for on a daily basis. Still many of the same things that I currently give thanks for....morning walks, my family, Trixie (our dog), birdlife, warm home, good food, our garden, movies, books, fresh water, rooibos! 🍃🌸 Feeling the gratitude as we move on to a new month. A new start perhaps, everyday is a new beginning. 🌞 When you are in a state of gratitude, there is only room for optimism ✨✨✨💫🌟🌈

Found this in my gratitude journal today!

"Nothing in life is ever a waste of time. There is a reason for everything. If you look long and deep you will find understanding & discover that you learnt something or gave something. Perhaps you grew, gave or received love or clarity. Seek this meaning for it is the key to life and love".

I was recently reminded about the value of expressing positive feedback. Do you have something nice to say? Say it! Don't wait for the perfect opportunity or a big occasion. Say it now. Say it any old how, it doesn't have to be the perfect speech or the right choice of words, just say what you feel, notice, love etc. Say it now! What if, what you have to say is what someone really needs to hear. What if its the highlight of that person's day, year, life. Say it now!

I have been creating an audio of my book 'Calm Through Chaos'. In reading it out aloud I have realised how much has happened since I wrote my book. There has been plenty of progress, some things have fallen away and new practices have emerged and I was struck by this extract, particularly because I am currently studying and practicing Stillness Meditation Therapy, a do nothing approach, so my own words resonated very strongly and made me realize how strongly this aligns with my path. ✨✨✨

This is the photo from Chapter 22 in my book 'Calm Through Chaos'. The chapter is Finding your voice: Self Expression.

Here is an extract from that chapter:
"It is now eight years post-SCA and here I am writing my book after a walk with my dog on a three-degree misty morning that has
invigorated me for the day. The mist has slowly cleared
and as I look out from my upstairs office there is a
beautiful blue sky. A metaphor for writing perhaps? It
clears away the mist. The mist is beautiful but once it
has gone it allows us to see more clearly"

I chose this photo of my daughter taken at Kilcunda, Victoria because it seemed a good visual representation of expressing yourself and in this case it was to express joy and celebrate the beauty of nature!
