Thinking about naturopathy but not quite sure if it’s the right step?

Discovery calls are the perfect place to start. These complimentary 10-minute phone chats are a space for you to ask questions, share what’s been going on for you, and see if naturopathy feels like the right fit.

No pressure, no prep—just a relaxed conversation focused on you and your health.

Sometimes we’ll even plan some testing ahead of your initial consult, so we’re already a step ahead when we meet.
If naturopathy has been sitting on your to-do list for a while, this is your sign to book a discovery call and finally tick it off. Let’s chat all things health

Feeling burnout? — it’s such a common symptom of this time of year, especially if you haven’t been on a mid year euro vacay.

Here is what I do to support myself, on a daily/weekly basis — to avoid burnout.

Daily:
Movement
2-3L hydration
Time in nature (even if it’s 5 minutes)
7-8 hours of sleep per night
Adaptogenic herbs
Morning light exposure / limiting initial morning screen time
Nutritious & regular meals meals

Weekly:
City escape (when I can)
Limit screen time for one day of the weekend
Social connection
Self care hobby (reading, sauna, knitting, hiking etc)

Every 6-12 months
Routinely get pathology checked to ensure all nutritional status isn’t further adding to fatigue/neurotransmitter dysfunction.

Don’t over complicate your health routines.

A healthy poo routine — is daily, 1-2 times.

Not meeting that quota? Make sure to include the below in your everyday routine.

2-3L of water per day
30g of fibre per day
A calm nervous system
Movement
Kiwi (with skin on) fruit before bed
Diverse diet

If you are still dealing with irregularity (constipation) — it could be due to what’s in your gut (microbes). Which can be investigated via gut microbiome testing.

Don’t let constipation be your normal, it’ll start (if it hasn’t already) impacting other parts of your health.

Spring is just around the corner.

I know (especially in Melbourne) that it feels like we are years away from a sunny spring day, but we are so close. Which means, now is the best time to start working on your allergen response, to get on top of it before the spring season hits (instead of relying on anti-histamines).

This may be controversial, but it is needed to be said, Anti-histamines don’t actually clear histamine from your body — they just block your receptors from reacting to it. Anti-histamines also reduce our DAO enzyme, which is a key enzyme that is required to breaking down histamine.

Anti histamine = less DAO enzyme = increased sensitivity to histamine.

So, what can you do to reduce your allergy response? It all comes back to the gut.

The gut flora plays a big role in histamine metabolism and if in a healthy state, can positively influence your health throughout the springtime.

What can you do today? — support your gut flora by diversifying your meals, spending time in nature, eating prebiotic rich foods and supporting that gut-brain axis.

If there is one thing that I focus on when working with a client with any type of skin condition — it’s to get those bowels moving daily.

Think of your bowels as your own garbage truck, it needs to be emptied everyday to ensure the natural process of detoxification can take place. Without it, the waste, toxins, hormones etc will be reabsorbed into the body. Sadly enough, the skin is the first organ to feel the impacts of this.

If you have acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis — make sure to move your bowels daily.

If you’re having issues doing that - then let’s chat!

Social connection — is important for your health.

At the end of the day, no amount of anxiolytic/adaptogenic herb will compare to the impact that connecting with your friends and family hold.

It’s such a common experience, that when you’re on your own, ruminating on your thoughts/emotions, it will often lead to that spiralling feeling - but as soon you’re with your loved ones and connecting, often those feelings will float away.

Do not undermine how therapeutic connection can be — so if you’re not feeling the best today, reach out to a friend to grab a coffee, go for a walk or even a vino in the afternoon.

Other great ways to connect if you’re new to a town is through — run clubs, book clubs (shout out to ), find local groups in your town that organise social events, etc.

Connection & Community are your mental health/nervous systems best friend.

Georgenat/my health non negotiables.

I originally got into Naturopathy because I felt like I knew nothing about my body / how to support my health / what was causing my symptoms.

It has taken me a few years (read 10 years) to figure out my routine with my health (& health conditions).

So here are my health non negotiables, these items help keep my health on track and minimise the occurrence of flares.

Everyone is different; everyone’s health is individual — listen to your body to help form your non-negotiables.

Our skin often will go through a transitional period during the seasons.

To best support your skin, it’s important to adapt/change your practices.

Winter skin checklist
— hydration, ensure you are drinking 2-3L (add in herbal tea to help get you to this target)
— pathology review, to identify vitamin deficiencies commonly deficient in winter
— minimise hot showers, as these dehydrate your skin
— jojoba oil on skin pre shower, place oil on your sensitive skin areas to prevent further dehydration from the shower
— increase omega & fat intake, to support moisture & hydration
— change your skincare regime to support your winter skin
— meal diversity, eat 30-40 different plants per week, to support your microbiome and keep up nutritional levels.

How’s your skin feeling this winter?
