Preparing for baby? New to baby wearing? Been baby wearing but not sure if your baby is comfortable or in the safest position?
Check out these tips!…🙌
✅TICKS Checklist
⭐️Tight - The carrier should be snug enough to hug your baby close, supporting their back and preventing slumping.
⭐️ In View at All Times - Your baby’s face should be visible simply by glancing down, with their nose and mouth unobstructed.
⭐️ Close Enough to Kiss - Your baby should be positioned high enough that you can easily kiss their head by tipping forward.
⭐️ Keep Chin Off Chest - Ensure your baby’s chin is up and away from their chest to prevent restricted breathing.
⭐️ Supported Back - Your baby’s back should be supported in a natural position, with their spine curved in a C shape.
• Newborns should generally be carried facing inward (chest-to-chest) for comfort and support.
• Avoid horizontal or diagonal positions that can restrict breathing or cause hip issues.
• Ensure the baby’s legs are in a natural, spread-out position (M-shape) for hip health.
• Be mindful of overheating, especially in warm weather. Dress the baby in light clothing and check their temperature regularly.
• Regularly check the baby’s breathing and position, ensuring they are comfortable and safe.
• Practice using the carrier or wrap at home before venturing out, ensuring you are comfortable and confident.
⭐️When in doubt you can always reach out to a baby wearing educator or consultant for advice or even a baby wearing fitting! ⭐️
