We’re heading into Term 4 which means we wear suncream and hats even on days it’s cloudy (especially when the UV is 3 or above).
Get out those sunhats and get into the habit of popping on suncream before kinder starts!
Hats can stay in your child’s bag or in their hat pocket under the notice boards. Pair this with some sunnies, sun smart clothing and suncream and their good to go.
Kinder friends without a hat will be advised to seek shaded outdoor play spaces.

Our parent support group (PSG) fundraising team are co-ordinating a beautiful keeptake tea towel with drawings completed by all the children of the 3 year old Kangaroo and 4 year old Frog groups. The children have already drawn themselves and you know it’s going to be cute. Think potato bodies, wild hair, belly buttons optional!
For those nostalgic folk, we have the Sarah Court designs going back to 2005 in the foyer for you to look through!

It's time for a break!
Kinder is closed for the 2 week term break, and little bodies and minds get a change of pace. We have been noticing some very interesting and unusual insect life at kinder over the recent weeks, especially as we head into true spring. Slow down and tune in to the calls of the birdlife in your garden, watch the butterflies flutter from flower to flower, can you spot a skink that’s basking in the sun or running to hide? Keep their curiosity alive, and most importantly – have fun!

We have a lovely sentimental keepsake fundraiser happening at the moment organised by the Parent Support Group (PSG).
Many of you have shared that you still have your childhood plate, and they are great for every day use, picnics, camping and those "bring a plate" gatherings!
Payment details in the foyer and attached to the blank plate for your child to decorate at home.
They are so special - don't miss out!!

Last week Friday was 'Wear it Purple Day'. It is an annual awareness day supporting and celebrating you people and their community creating safe and inclusive environments.
At kinder, this translates to a fun dress up day, sparking conversations whilst celebrating equity and diversity, and respectful relationships with children and their families, practice principles of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) which governs our program curriculum.

Lots of fun to be had last week at Sarah Court, with educators and the group taking part in imaginative dress up play-as one of their favourite book characters.
Children were able to connect with various characters through pretend play, use their problem solving skills to recognise who is who, educators read through many additional books to support the love of language and literacy and more!

August 4th is a day for celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day.
At Sarah Court, we support all children to thrive, be strong in culture and connect to their community.
We use the 8 Aboriginal ways of learning framework in conjunction with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework for our curriculum.
What looked like a fun day playing ball games in Kangaroo Group or yarning round the fire pit in Frog Group, was yet another way in which we enrich our program and embed indigenous learning into elements across the indoor and outdoor program each and every day.

Sarah Court Pre-School is in it's third year of celebrating National Pyjama Day (which runs from July to August).
We chose to raise money for the Pyjama Foundation, who support foster children with mentors, books and other educational materials such as games and puzzles.
Thanks to your generous donations, as a kinder we raised $88 for the charity (Kangaroos $28, Frogs $60).
Not only will this money support young children living in outside of home care, it also raises awareness for those children in foster care.

This Children's Day on Monday 4th August Yarra Ranges Kindergarten proudly celebrates the strengths, stories and culture of our children and communities.

This year’s National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme is Little Footsteps, Big Future. This theme honours the journeys our children take as they grow - each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country.

The Parent Support Group (Fundraising) have done a fabulous job collating everyone's Family Favourite recipes into our very own Sarah Court Recipe Book!
They are off to the printers, we look forward to seeing the results of some delicious recipes with very lovely pictures by the children, a memory to treasure for years to come.

MECEC is home to two beautiful outdoor yards, designed for play, exploration and learning.

All groups share both spaces throughout the year, which include sandpits, swings, covered decking, and climbing equipment.

🌿 The 3-year-old yard features a cubby house, slide, basketball ring and bike track.
🌱 The 4-year-old and mixed-age yard includes monkey bars, a pirate ship and a veggie patch.

🦕 Dino fun at Montrose!

The children have loved exploring Dinosaur Land, building small worlds, telling stories, and learning through play.

Songs, puppets and stories helped bring the theme to life and extend their literacy learning.
