Sailability was established in Australia by the Victorian Yachting Council in 1991. By 2000, Sailability Victoria had been incorporated as a not-for-porfit charitable organisation while countinuing to operate as a committee of Yachting Victoria. At that time Yachting Victoria provide a part-time Sailability Coordinator and a mobile unit of four Acccess (Hansa) Boats an Safety RHIB supporting just four Sailability Programs. Sailability Victoria amalgamated with Sailing for Everyone in 2003, including an additional four programs. From this we have now grown to 24 programs around the State offering sailing experiences to many sailors of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, enabling them to become involved in sailing and their local sailing club.

At our National Championships this Easter, the Central Highlands Water team provided a chilled water dispenser, offering a sustainable solution for over 50 sailors, family members, and supporters in attendance, thereby eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles. Thank you for your support.

Good luck to all the sailors competitive today at Ballaarat Yacht Club!

VP, Ali, and new committee member, Tim, headed up to Shepparton on Thursday for their last Sailability day of the term.
Program Coordinator Roy Hill has been driving the program for 14 years and has adopted a philosophy that ‘no one gets their feet wet’ which has led to some great innovations and processes to make the volunteer tasks as user friendly as possible. Catering to groups from the local English language and Special schools as well as support services and individuals from the district, it is a very bright and busy place by the lake.
Thanks for having us and we will be back for a sail soon!

Hansa Sailing are seeking worldwide donations of second-hand or unused Hansa 2.3 and 303 boats for refurbishment and deployment in emerging sailing nations.
Any boats that are no longer used, require repair, or are in storage can be given a new purpose by providing accessible sailing opportunities in developing programs around the world. Donated boats will be refurbished by Hansa Sailing where necessary and distributed to support inclusive sailing and grassroots participation worldwide. Boat should include (where possible) hull, spars, keel, rudders and rudder boxes. Sails are not required.
Once refurbished, Hansa Sailing will arrange to donate the boats to startup programs around the world. Recognition of the original donor will be acknowledged. For more information, email info@hansaclass.org
