What type of back pain are you experiencing?

Back pain isn’t one-size-fits-all. Understanding the type of pain you have is the first step toward managing it.

🤔 Non-specific low back pain
Around 8 in 10 cases fall into this category, where there’s no single identifiable cause. Often linked to muscles, joints or everyday strain.

⚡Acute back pain
Short-term pain that can come on suddenly, often from lifting, movement or minor injury.

⏳ Chronic back pain
Pain that persists for 12 weeks or more, sometimes continuing even after the initial cause has resolved.

➡️ Referred or radiating pain
Pain that travels, such as down the leg, often linked to nerve involvement.

🧠 Back pain doesn’t just affect the body - it can also impact mental wellbeing, contributing to stress, fatigue and reduced quality of life.

Understanding your pain is the first step to getting back to feeling good.

From us at Family Tree, we want to share this special event hosted by Ali for parents and babes in arms (though other adults are welcome to attend) run on May 26th 1:30-2:30pm.

The event will explore the tranquil sound of the harp and live plant music being improvised at the same time. If you love sitting with Nature and wish to share this experience with your young baby, then do come along! 🍃🪾

Using a smaller but beautiful sounding harp, which is based on an ancient design, Ali will improvise with live plant music, created by gently placed clips that receive the electronic impulses from plants and transition them into sound waves.

A magical experience in the safety of a welcoming parent and babe in arms experience.✨

✨Register for Spinal Health Month (1-30 June)!✨

This June, get back to feeling good and join hundreds of participants celebrating 30 years of ACA’s Spinal Health Movement. Register for Spinal Health Month and help raise awareness of the link between back pain and mental well-being.

Back pain doesn’t just affect the body - it can contribute to stress, fatigue and reduced quality of life. For Australians in physically demanding or completely sedentary jobs, the risk is even higher. Repetitive tasks, heavy lifting and long hours on your feet can increase both physical discomfort and mental load over time.

Getting involved can help:
✅ Support physical and mental health in the workplace
✅ Reduce the risk of work-related musculoskeletal injuries
✅ Improve comfort, movement and productivity
✅ Encourage healthier habits at work and home

Spinal Health Month promotes practical, evidence-based ways to help prevent injury and support overall health.

👉 Register at www.spinalhealth.org.au

Because a healthy spine supports a healthy mind.

Dr Paul Chamberlain, our paediatric chiropractor (MAICE 2023) presented to over 50 Australian chiropractors on the subject of plagiocephaly/flat head syndrome.

His two messages for families with babies?
1. Observe your baby looking down on the top of their head - is the back or the front of the head flat on one side? If so, consider a review from a paed practitioner who understands nerves, muscles and joints, to determine the cause.

2. Check to see if your baby can sleep to both sides - if they always sleep to one side, turn them 180 degrees in bed (still on their back), and see if they change their neck direction. If not, again it is worth having someone review, to see if there is stiffness or weakness on one side.

If you’d like to organise a free discussion with our chiro and osteo team, call 9435 8788.
