Transport Victoria's new campaign reminds us that our actions can impact the physical and mental wellbeing of Victorian road workers. So please slow down and please be respectful. Road workers are people too.

We are extremely proud that two of our employees, Nick and Alexandra, were able to be a part of the campaign.

Please slow down. Please be respectful.

Every day across Victoria, road workers are doing their job to manage traffic and get you home safely. For a road worker, a road worksite is their workplace....

Road Worker Day of Remembrance (RWDOR) is on November 9th and is dedicated to the Australian Road Workers who have lost their lives or suffered serious injuries while working on our roads. We are honouring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice or were injured in the line of duty.

On November 9th, people can show support for road workers in their area by:
โ€ข Slowing down at work sites and where you see the slow/stop signs and reminding other drivers to do the same โ€“ particularly for those teaching Learner drivers.
โ€ข Look out for each other on the road. Itโ€™s a dangerous job, and we want everyone to make it home safely to their families.

Yesterday Miepol took part in the at Eynesbury Homestead, a charity event for the Exford Primary School community. Earlier this year Miepol was on scene responding to an incident where the schoolโ€™s bus carrying 45 children collided with a truck. The Eynesbury community pulled together with the help of to provide a fun filled family day for the first responders, kids, their families and the local community. Thank you to our terrific traffic controllers who gave up their Sunday to be part of this wonderful day.

R U OK ? A place where asking the question โ€œAre you ok?โ€ can really work is in the workplace. As employers or staff, we can all create a culture where people feel confident asking and answering this simple yet important question. Besides our legal responsibility of providing a safe and healthy workplace, these conversations can make a real difference to staff going through a tough time.

R U OK? Day (Thursday 8 September, 2022) is the national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that any day is the day to ask, โ€œAre you OK?โ€ and support those struggling with life. To find out more about the R U OK? program visit www.ruok.org.au.

Its ok not to be ok and sometimes we require that little bit of extra support. So ask someone today...R U OK?

Miepol continues to offer all staff access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a great initiative for those wanting support.

Have a lovely day.

Miepol was pleased to partner with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to produce the new road safety campaign for road workers.

When we're on our roads it's up to all of us to protect the people that are working on and around our roads. Slowing down helps to ensure everyone can get home safely.

Every day there are workers on our roads working to improve them and make them safer for us. It's important when you're approaching road works that you slow down to the posted speed limit and remain at the limit until you have passed through the works.

Letโ€™s play our part and keep each other safe.

The team at Miepol was devastated to learn of the tragic incident yesterday at an Altus Traffic Australia job site.

We wish to pass on our condolences to Timmy Rakei's family and friends, his colleagues at Altus; and a swift recovery to his co-worker injured.

We acknowledge and appreciate traffic controllers in the industry that consistently put their lives at risk to fulfill road safety obligations.

Timmyโ€™s vast experience and commitment to road safety over the years, as verified by many Miepol team members having previously worked with him, has left a legacy on the traffic industry and his colleagues.

RIP Timmy Rakei https://gofund.me/4d3e937b
