se aromatherapy during their pregnancy. Women are quite vulnerable during this time and with so much confusing and conflicting advice it was often simpler to do without. This spurred me on to develop a service where women could be assured they were receiving expert advice and care. Using mother nature to nurture mothers was essentially the vision. Mother Nurture has been supporting women through the roller coaster of life since 2010. I also love to provide parents with simple tools, such as natural aromatherapy products, aromatherapy education and baby massage techniques, to help care for themselves and their families.

It’s been a hectic month as I consolidate my practice at MAMA in Kensington. Apologies if you’ve had trouble finding availability.

I am using a new online booking platform called My Appointments which has been fantastic. I’ve had great feedback from clients on the ease of booking appointments and communication.

One the BEST features of My Appointments is the ability for clients to add themselves to the waitlist. If you can’t find a suitable appointment time this is the easiest way to let me know your preferences. Appointments often need to be cancelled or rescheduled, for various reasons (seeing so many pregnant women there’s always the chance a baby will be born at the last minute!) So it is worth adding yourself to the list 😊

Otherwise, I’d recommend booking a few weeks in advance, especially if you’d prefer an after hours spot.

One of the first things I teach parents in my baby massage course is the permission sequence. This is where parents open their palms over baby’s face and ask “do you want a massage now?”

It sounds a bit strange, doesn’t it? But this is an important part of baby massage for two reasons.

It allows space for the parent to determine if it is an appropriate time for massage.

It also teaches children from a young age that consent to touch should be sought. Parents can continue to use this phrase all throughout their child’s life, and encourage their child to respond accordingly.

Over time babies learn that the permission sequence signifies it’s time for massage – firstly by the non-verbal hand signals and eventually recognising the word massage.

Did you know, when we massage babies, we always start on the legs?

This is because they are very familiar with touch around this area - with all the nappy changing! Touching their legs feels comfortable and safe. Massage on some other areas of the body such as the arms and chest can feel more intrusive.

Massaging babies is very different compared to adults. This is why it’s important to learn the correct timing, sequence and techniques for baby massage.

There is ONE SPOT LEFT for my next Baby Massage course starting next Wednesday 25th February Midwifery Practice
Course runs for 3 x 60min sessions over subsequent Wednesdays. The first class can also be attended as an Introductory session.

🌿 A NEW CHAPTER FOR MOTHER NURTURE 🌿

After more than 10 wonderful years at Growing Bones, I’ve made the very difficult decision to move my whole practice to MAMA in Kensington.

Growing Bones has been such a special part of my journey. I’m so incredibly grateful to Melissa for welcoming me into her little clinic in Seddon all those years ago, and for the encouragement, support and laughter along the way.

My final day at Growing Bones will be Tuesday 10th March.

Then from April, I’ll be working full time from MAMA.
MAMA is a peaceful, welcoming space and only a 10-minute drive from Yarraville.

To celebrate this new chapter, I’ll be offering the special gift of 10%OFF all April bookings.
