Congratulations to Dr Zack Holmes who recently won the Adrian Johnson Memorial Prize awarded by The Australasian College of Dermatologists for a paper he co-authored with A/Prof Peter Foley on Tildrakizumab use for recalcitrant pityriasis rubra pilaris.

Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is a group of rare, papulos- quamous disorders of unclear aetiology. Conventional treatments include emollients, topical corticosteroids (TCS) and systemicagents including acitretin, cyclosporin and methotrexate.’ Biological agents, such as interleukin (IL) inhibitors, are emerging as effective therapeutic op-
tions for those with recalcitrant disease.
Currently in Australia, there are no biologics approved for use with PRP. The study reported three cases of resistant PRP successfully treated with tildrakizumab.

The Adrian Johnson Memorial Prize has been established to commemorate the late Dr Adrian Johnson, an inaugural Editor of the Australasian Journal of Dermatology. This prize is awarded for the best paper or publication in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology by a College trainee in a calendar year.

Congratulations Dr Holmes from all the team at Foley Dermatology & Associates.

With this unusually warm and sunny April, it’s a perfect time to remind everyone about the importance of UV protection and sun safety and that it isn’t just for Summer months!

While soaking up the sun can feel great, it’s essential to take care of your skin to minimize the risk of damage.

Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy while enjoying the outdoors:

1. **Wear Sunscreen:** Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply it generously on all exposed skin, and reapply every 2 hours (or more often if swimming or sweating).

2. **Seek Shade:** Especially during peak hours (10 AM to 4 PM), try to stay in the shade whenever possible. If you can’t find shade, don a wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses.

3. **Cover Up:** Lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants can provide an extra layer of protection against harmful UV rays. Look for fabrics with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating!

4. **Stay Hydrated:** Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy while enjoying outdoor activities.

5. **Check Your Skin:** This is a great time to do a self-exam. Keep an eye on any new moles or changes to existing ones, and don’t hesitate to schedule a skin check with us if you notice something concerning.

Let’s make the most of this beautiful weather while protecting our skin! If you have any questions about sun safety or skincare, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe in the sun! ☀️💛

1. Early Detection of Skin Cancer: Skin checks can catch potential issues like melanoma early on, when they are most treatable. Regular screenings can significantly reduce your risk of advanced skin cancer.

3. Personalised Care: Each skin type is unique! Regular visits allow us to tailor recommendations specifically for you, addressing any concerns and optimizing your skincare routine.

4. Expert Guidance: Our team stays updated with the latest dermatological research and treatments, ensuring you receive the best advice and care possible.

5. Peace of Mind: Knowing that your skin is healthy can reduce anxiety and help you feel more confident in your skin every day.

6. Skin Care Regimes: Not only can our Dermatologists help create a personalised skin care regime for you, they can also recommend skincare products - some of which are available to purchase at our Reception. These products include Rationale and Airy Day.
