The theme of this year’s , ‘It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace’, is designed to highlight the essential role of in professional environments, advocating for workplaces where mental health is prioritised, protected, and promoted.

Many of us spend more time working than any other activity during our waking hours, and workplaces can play a key role in improving and supporting mental health.

Mentally healthy workplaces are good for people and good for businesses. Mentally healthy workplaces help people feel more engaged, productive, and contribute to people’s sense of overall wellbeing.

The people who provide mental health care to the community, also benefit from – and are entitled to – mentally healthy workplaces. Beyond simply being the right thing to do, workplace safety and wellbeing for the mental health workforce leads to better patient outcomes.

Kia ora. This week is Māori Language Week.
This marks the very moment the Language Petition was presented to Parliament in 1972, on the first Māori Language Day. Three years later, it became what we now know as Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. To celebrate te reo Māori, we encourage you to familiarise yourself with Tu Te Akaaka Roa’s Te Reo Māori language guide and glossary and to kōrero (speak), waiata (sing) and pānui (read) in te reo Māori.
