Meet The Team! ✨

Say 👋 to Jesus!

He's been with MTS for the past 4 years.

He's always smiling, ready to dance and loves to socialise.

Jesús is a crucial part of our team and we are so grateful to have him on our side for the past 4 years. MTS wouldn't be the same without him.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is an annual event that takes place on the third Thursday of May to raise awareness about digital accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities.
It's important because they are often excluded from the digital world, impacting their ability to participate in society, access opportunities, and enjoy their rights. By participating, we can help create a more accessible and inclusive world.

Did you know that the NDIS also offers Early Childhood Intervention programs?

The NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) program is designed to support children aged 0 to 6 years who have a developmental delay or disability and their families. The program provides individualized plans, tailored to the needs of the child and their family, to help them achieve their goals and participate fully in daily activities. The process begins with a referral to the ECEI program, which is followed by an assessment to determine eligibility. If eligible, the child and family will be connected with an ECEI coordinator who will work with them to develop a plan and connect them with appropriate supports and services. The program aims to build the capacity of families to support their child's development and promote their inclusion in community activities and settings. The ECEI program is funded by the NDIS and delivered by Early Childhood Partners in local areas across Australia.

Focusing on mental health is crucial for people with disabilities because they often face unique challenges that can affect their mental well-being.

Disabilities can lead to social isolation, financial stress, and physical pain, which can increase the risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
Furthermore, people with disabilities often face stigma and discrimination, which can further contribute to poor mental health. By prioritizing mental health, people with disabilities can improve their quality of life, increase their resilience, and better cope with the challenges they face.

Seeking professional help, engaging in self-care activities, and building a supportive community are all important steps towards promoting mental health and overall well-being.

Your responsibilities include making sure the supports align with your plan and are not covered by another system, while your rights include choosing who delivers your supports and paying for them at a fair rate. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission works with registered providers to ensure they meet quality standards and provide safe supports to participants.

Disability misconceptions lead to discrimination and marginalisation, denying people with disabilities the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Common misconceptions include seeing disability as a personal tragedy, a burden on society, and an inability to contribute. In reality, disability is a natural part of diversity and can be accommodated through inclusive measures that benefit everyone. People with disabilities have valuable skills and can contribute to society if given equal opportunities and support.

Hygiene is very important to us!

Hygiene is crucial in a disability service setting as people with disabilities may have compromised immune systems or other health conditions that make them more susceptible to infections. Proper hygiene practices such as handwashing, using gloves, and regularly cleaning surfaces can help prevent the spread of germs and illness. Additionally, individuals with disabilities may require assistance with daily activities such as toileting and bathing, which highlights the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene to ensure their health and well-being. Overall, good hygiene practices are essential in disability services to promote a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

Wheelchair accessibility is a crucial aspect of inclusivity in our society. It involves designing spaces, buildings, and transportation to be usable by individuals who use wheelchairs, through features such as ramps, wider doorways, and accessible parking.

Wheelchair accessibility promotes independence, social inclusion, diversity, and economic growth. It empowers individuals with disabilities to navigate their surroundings, participate in various activities, and connect with others. It also benefits businesses and the tourism industry. As a society, it's our responsibility to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their mobility status, by creating a more inclusive and accessible environment.

Let's work towards a world where wheelchair accessibility is a basic human right. So, let's prioritize and ensure wheelchair accessibility to promote inclusivity and diversity in our communities.
