It is not without regret that I inform you that today was my last day at South Eastern Equine Hospital.

I would like to thank all of our wonderful clients and referring Veterinarians for their support over the past 16 years.

I can’t begin to thank our staff enough for their support, dedication and hard work. Without them nothing would be possible.

Rest assured you and your horses will always continue to receive expert veterinary care from the staff at the South Eastern Equine Hospital.

Congratulations 🥳 to our sponsored rider, Tahlia Pursell and Astro, who finished on their dressage score to get 4th place out of a class of 32 and then 2nd in the young rider section! Tahlia also won a trophy for optimum time getter on cross country plus her team won the teams trophy at The Adelaide Equestrian Festival!! We are so happy for you both!

⭐️ Congratulations to one of our sponsored riders, Molly Barry who competed at Tonimbuk horse trials last weekend. Zac placed 2nd in the CCI3*-S and won best performed off the track horse. They came up 15 positions following an excellent ride around an influential cross country track, after what was a slightly disappointing Dressage and showjumping performance, given our very positive preparation for this season.

💉 💥 Warning- this post contains surgical images💉. Image 1- pre op. Image 2- During Surgery. Image 3- amputated jaw. Image 4- post op. Image 5- Halle happily recovered and at home. 💕 🐴 “Halle” 6 week old Arabian foal
presented to our hospital with abnormal granular tissue growth on lower jaw.
X-rays showed some mild changes to the jaw in this area.
Biopsy samples were taken and identified an osteosarcoma of the jaw.
CT scan performed and identified tumour involved lower jaw or mandible. Additional diagnostic imaging was performed to rule out spread of the tumour to other tissues.

Under general anaesthesia approximately 8cm of the lower jaw was amputated. A compression screw was applied across the jaw for stability. The soft tissues were closed so that the normal appearance of the lower jaw was preserved as closely as possible.

Halle recovered well from surgery and was immediately able to nurse from the mare and eat hard feed. The wound has healed well and Halle has returned home to the green pastures of East Gippsland.
