Ever wondered why we sometimes check your tongue and pulse?

In Chinese medicine, these give us a snapshot of what’s happening inside your body, not just where symptoms show up.

👅 Your tongue can reflect digestion, hydration, circulation, and overall internal balance.
Its colour, coating, and shape all give us clues.

🫀 Your pulse isn’t just about speed.
We feel qualities like strength, depth, and rhythm, which help us understand how your body is functioning as a whole.

It’s not about being mysterious, it’s about gathering more information so treatment can be tailored specifically to you.

No two bodies are the same, and your treatment shouldn’t be either.

Have you ever had your tongue or pulse checked before?

What to expect at your first women’s health appointment:
If you’ve never seen us before, it’s normal to feel unsure about what the first visit involves. Our goal is simple: understand your body, your history, and what you need.

At your first appointment, we usually cover:

✔️ Your health history
We’ll talk about your cycle, symptoms, sleep, digestion, stress levels, and any diagnoses or medications.

✔️ Your goals
Whether it’s pain relief, cycle regulation, fertility support, or postnatal recovery, we tailor treatment to what matters most to you.

✔️ A physical assessment (if relevant)
This may include posture, movement, pelvic stability, or areas of tension, always explained clearly and done with your consent.

✔️ Your treatment plan
We’ll discuss what we recommend, how treatment works, and what results typically look like over time.

✔️ Time for questions
You’re encouraged to ask anything. No concern is too small or too personal.

Your first session is about listening, understanding, and creating a plan that supports your body long-term.

If you’ve been thinking about booking but weren’t sure what to expect, this is your sign to take the first step 🤍

🔥❄️ Poll time: Are you a heat pack person or an ice pack person?

In Chinese medicine, and many physiotherapy approaches heat is usually preferred for chronic injuries or ongoing muscle tension. Gentle warmth helps:
• Relax tight muscles
• Improve blood flow
• Support healing and recovery over time

❄️ Ice is best for acute sprains and swelling, to calm inflammation.

So next time you reach for a pack:

Chronic pain or tension → heat 🔥

New injury or swelling → ice ❄️

💬 Comment below: Are you team Heat 🔥 or team Ice ❄️?

😴 Fatigue that isn’t just “being busy”

Feeling tired after a long week is normal.
But if you wake up exhausted, crash mid-afternoon, or feel like your energy never fully returns , your body may be asking for support.

Ongoing fatigue can be linked to:
• Hormonal shifts or menstrual cycle changes
• Poor sleep quality (even if you’re in bed long enough)
• Stress and nervous system overload
• Digestive issues affecting nutrient absorption
• Post-illness or postnatal depletion

From a Chinese medicine perspective, fatigue often reflects deeper imbalances in energy, blood, or organ systems, not just a need for more rest.

Support like acupuncture, herbal medicine, and tailored treatment can help restore energy gradually by addressing the underlying cause, not just masking the symptoms.

If your tiredness feels persistent or unexplained, it might be worth looking a little deeper 🤍

🤍 Postnatal recovery checklist

After birth, so much focus goes to baby, but your recovery matters too. Healing well now can prevent issues months or years later.

Here are some key areas to check in with after delivery:

✔️ Pelvic floor support
Leakage, heaviness, or discomfort aren’t things you just have to accept. Early rehab can make a big difference.

✔️ Scar healing
Whether from a C-section or tearing, scars can affect movement, pain, and pelvic function if not treated properly.

✔️ Energy levels
Extreme fatigue isn’t always just “new mum tired.” Your body is recovering from pregnancy, birth, and hormonal shifts.

✔️ Sleep quality
Broken sleep is expected, but trouble winding down, night anxiety, or persistent exhaustion can signal your nervous system needs support.

Postnatal care isn’t about bouncing back, it’s about rebuilding strength, balance, and resilience so your body feels supported long term.

If you’re not sure where to start with recovery, we’re here to help 🤍

🌿 Cycle tracking tips for conception

Knowing when you ovulate can make a big difference when trying to conceive, and your cervical mucus is one of the best natural clues.

Ovulation doesn’t happen on the same calendar day for everyone.
A helpful guide is that it usually occurs about 12–14 days before your next period, not always on day 14.

Your body often signals this through mucus changes:

• After your period: often dry or very little mucus
• Before ovulation: mucus becomes creamy or lotion-like
• Approaching ovulation: wetter, stretchy, more noticeable
• Most fertile time: clear, slippery, “egg-white” mucus
• After ovulation: mucus quickly becomes thick, sticky, or dry again

That slippery, stretchy mucus usually means ovulation is near, and this is often the best time to try for conception.

If your cycle feels irregular, painful, or hard to read, support like acupuncture and herbal medicine may help regulate ovulation and improve cycle patterns.

If you’re trying to conceive and want guidance, we’re here to help 🌸

🩸 Myth vs Fact: “Heavy periods are normal.”

Myth:
Heavy periods are just something some women have to live with.

Fact:
While period flow varies from person to person, consistently heavy bleeding can be a sign your body needs support.

Heavy periods may be linked to:
• Hormonal imbalances
• Fibroids or endometriosis
• Thyroid issues
• Stress and nervous system strain
• Circulation or blood regulation patterns (from a Chinese medicine view)

Signs your period may be heavier than ideal include:
• Needing to change pads/tampons every 1–2 hours
• Passing large clots
• Bleeding longer than 7 days
• Fatigue or dizziness during your cycle

You don’t have to just put up with it. Many women see improvement when the underlying cause is addressed.

If your periods feel overwhelming or exhausting each month, it may be worth exploring what’s driving them 🤍🩸 Myth vs Fact: “Heavy periods are normal.”

🌸 Period pain isn’t something you just have to live with.

While cramps are common, ongoing or severe pain is often a sign your body needs support, not something to push through each month.

Some common causes of period pain include:
• Muscle tension in the pelvis or lower back
• Hormonal imbalances affecting prostaglandins
• Stress impacting the nervous system
• Conditions like endometriosis or adenomyosis
• Poor circulation or stagnation (from a Chinese medicine view)

The good news? There are gentle, effective ways to help.

✔️ Physio can reduce pelvic tension, improve movement, and support the pelvic floor
✔️ Acupuncture helps regulate hormones, ease pain, and improve circulation
✔️ Chinese herbal medicine works internally to balance the cycle and reduce recurring symptoms

You don’t have to wait until it’s unbearable each month. With the right support, many women notice lighter, more manageable cycles and fewer symptoms over time.

If this sounds like you, we’re here to help 💛
