✨Yay! Our Bright Side team at AUT university had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Health Andrew Little and Auckland Central MP Chloe Swarbrick .swarbrick earlier today 👏🏾 We discussed the new preventative health initiatives and promotion for holistic wellbeing support that will be offered to our student community at AUT University created through the investment made by Government to respond to student’s mental health 👏🏾

This was an opportunity for some of AUT’s mental health and health promotion services to showcase what is being offered to AUT students while they are studying and navigating a challenging pandemic landscape 🌱

I am honored to be in this role as Bright Side’s Health Coach as part of the expansion in 2022 for the preventative health, student support & well-being campaign in tertiary education both in the North and City Campus 👊🏾

Love our team, love our tribe 🙌🏾✨

👉🏾 Tune in tonight @ 6pm news and learn more! 😉

• Jabana 🇸🇩 الجبنة السودانية ☕️•

Jabana or Qahwa is a traditional coffee ritual that is part of the Sudanese culture - milled coffee beans with added spices such a ginger, cinnamon and cardamom 🌱served in a clay flask, Jabana, which gave its name to the drink ☕️

The offering of Jabana symbolizes the essence of human connection, the softening of hearts and the meeting of souls 💫

Jabana is used as a way of connecting us together bridging our shared stories and different lived experiences under the common shared experience of enjoying Qahwa ☕️❤️

The richness and essence of Sudanese Jabana symbolizes more than just a delicious coffee, each sip brings us back to our heritage, our generational stories and our human connection as we celebrate where we come from and who we are as people 🧡☕️

➰ Your heritage matters, your traditions and culture add to your unique style of what you do in your life, so own your stories and 🇸🇩✌🏾🖤

“The world would have been different - and better - if women had had an equal say in the development of literature, medicine, chemistry, physics, peace and economics. Better, not because women are better, but because they are more than half of humanity, representing more than half of what it means to be human.” -Elizabeth Lesser

📚One of my favorite books that explores what happens when women dig deep for the courage to speak from our own experiences and how the power of our storytelling can help to build an equitable society. This book opened my mind to questioning the earliest stories and myths we have unconsciously absorbed that have limited, defined and contained us as a society. How generations of these stories have convinced us to silence our voices and offers a vision of courage, hope and strength through that power of storytelling 💖✍🏾

Elisabeth Lesser inspires and fuels us women to rise up and speak and share our stories in order to reclaim how we lead our lives and the world 🌍 💖🙌🏾

Highly recommend this book ☕️👌🏾

🔥Updates!

Sooo…I am super excited to announce that I will be embarking on a new career path as a Health Coach at Auckland University of Technology 💪🏾☀️

After 10 years of working as a chiropractor and running my own private practice I have decided to expand and move towards academia in order to bring my knowledge and experience of holistic healing, neurology, emotional well-being and somatic trauma healing into a wider community - I am so excited to see what I can create in this space at the 🔸Bright Side AUT🔸 as we create programs and coach students from all walks of life towards a journey of self development, awareness and resilience, supporting them to enhance their ability to develop leadership skills and unlock their inner potential for success in their studies, work and future 🌈🙌🏾💖

So grateful I get to be working alongside a community of like-minded professionals that celebrate inclusivity, diversity and cultural awareness and to be within the education field. Excited to coach, teach, collaborate and learn along the way 🤓🧠

2022…here we go!🔥💪🏾🙌🏾

🚩 Ps: shoutout to my Melbourne peeps, practice members 💕 and whanau for your ongoing support and trust along the way - love y’all 😘

My Story

Welcome to Dana Toogood Chiropractic! I am a mother and a holistic chiropractor who is passionate about women’s health and wellness. I graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic with a Bachelor degree in Chiropractic. I have attended the Inspiral Pediatric Seminar which focuses on pediatric neuroscience and development and also utilise Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) a mind-body approach to help stress related conditions.

The body thrives to be in a state of balance and harmony however due to our daily life demands we are continuously being exposed to stress (whether it be physical, chemical or emotional) which may create a disruption or blockage in the flow of information and energy in our nervous system (the brain-body connection).

This impact on our nervous systems may manifest in our bodies as symptoms or sickness. Chronic pain, discomfort, stiffness or fatigue are just some examples of the body’s signal that we need to restore balance and to reestablish this healthy flow of innate intelligence.

Chiropractic recognises the human body as a self healing and self regulating organism that has an interconnectedness to all things including the mind, the body and the environment in which we live.
