🤩🤩 Welcome to the team Kristen 🤩🤩 ..

Relationship and Community: Psychology is so much more than ‘treating’ mental illness and supporting disabled clients. It’s a connection and interpersonal ‘dance’ that can mean a conversation while creating (loom band jewellery and beading 💜💜) never underestimate the power of connection.

Please don't assume that I have it all together just because I look like an adult.

I have big skills.
Big gaps, too.

And I need coregulation most of the time.

Yes?

If you're a parent or carer of a PDA child, our 8-week course is designed to deepen your understanding of PDA and help you feel more confident in supporting your child and advocating for their needs.

The course combines self-paced learning with live online sessions, providing an opportunity to connect with other parents and carers on a similar journey. Live sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 7pm - 9.30pm with just a few spots left. For any questions, feel free to contact us at training.support@pdasociety.org.uk.

We truly appreciate those who are able to pay full price for our training, as this helps us continue providing free support and information to PDAers and their families. However, we understand that cost can be a concern, and we want to ensure that financial barriers don’t prevent anyone from accessing this course.

That’s why we offer discounted and free tickets, allocated based on availability and need. If cost is a concern, please reach out to us directly, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We also offer a parent/carer 5hr subsidised course for £45. Please visit our training pages for all courses for parents and carers.

If you're looking for more support or information about PDA, our free support service is always available: https://ow.ly/WKpY50TINag

Black text in the upper left reads,

"Neurodiversity is the idea that people matter and have rights, regardless of how their brains work!"

There are black four-pointed stars to the upper left and lower right of the text.

Smaller black text in the lower left corner reads,

"

AAPi recently reached out to the NDIA regarding concerns from members who were told (or their clients were told) by Support Coordinators, LACs, and Planners that “psychology is no longer funded as it is the responsibility of the health system.”

The NDIA has confirmed that psychology services remain eligible for funding under the NDIS, and no official information suggests otherwise. Please read our update which includes direct quotes from written communication with the NDIA: https://ow.ly/LLMF50TJnbM

GROUP PROGRAMS - we are thrilled to announce TWO programs running this term. These groups are to support teens with interests in art and creating as well as teens with an interest in all things pokemon.
The groups are designed and facilitated by experience psychologist Kim Sheppard. These supports are neurodiverse affirming because they are NOT intervention groups, rather they are preference based connection groups with opportunities to build skills in areas that organically present in the context of play and interaction and only following the consent and interest of the people interacting. Our groups honour participants communication and play preferences, promote autonomy, honour neurodivergent culture and follow a client centred and strengths based apporach to participation.

All materials are supplied. Please contact us today to secure your child’s place. Places are limited.
