Most of us what to avoid โ€˜negativeโ€™ emotions. We donโ€™t want to feel angry, sad, hurt, frustratedโ€ฆ so we try to squash them down.

But just like the opposite side of coins, these emotions also are proof that we cared about someone or something, that we have put in effort and we have loved.

Honour these emotions.
Let them come and go.
They are part of the human experience.

They are great teachers of mindfulness and being in the moment. They get excited over small things and are always ready for a play. They donโ€™t feel guilty for resting and donโ€™t hold grudges.

Last week I enjoyed watching the World Athletics Championships ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Jess Hull showed such an example of determination, resilience and courage when she was tripped. She got up and finished her race last. As she finished, she could then appeal and was able to progress to the semi final.

Showing up to the semi final, she gave her best effort and ran so fast, breaking the Australian record for the 800m ๐Ÿฅณ

This is such a great example of getting up again after you fall. In life, we often have falls - itโ€™s what we do afterwards that count!

~ Staying the course ~

Sometimes in life, we are going to go through times that are challenging, boring and tough.

We may be embarking on a challenge and we arenโ€™t sure how itโ€™s going to turn out.

In times like these, we need to โ€˜stay the course.โ€™ We need to persist, have hope and faith that things will turn out how they are meant to.

You may not be seeing instant results but by putting in consistent effort, we keep putting one foot in front of the other to move towards our goal.

So if you are at a challenging point in your life, or a time of uncertainty, stay the course. Keep aligned with your values and take one day at a time.

You care for what you value.

When you buy a new car, you make sure you get it serviced and clean it regularly.

When you value a nice piece of jewellery, you make sure you store it in a case and take notice where you have put it.

When you value a friendship, you set time aside for your friend and really listen when they are talking.

When you value your job, you are happy to go the extra mile and put in time and effort to what you are working on.

So, do you value your physical and mental health in the same way?

Do you spend time, energy, money and effort on your health?
Do you prioritise it?
Do you make choices that aligns with your goals and values for your health?

If not, why not? Why donโ€™t you value your health as much as other things?

Health is not an infinite resource. We often complain when we are sick or injured but have you invested into looking after your health?

โ™ฅ๏ธ Small things, big joy โ™ฅ๏ธ

The smallest things in life can bring us the biggest joy. Even on the tough days, finding little moments of joy help us to cope.

What are the small things that bring you the biggest big joy?

Some of mine include:
๐Ÿ˜‡ opening my door to come home and being greeted by 2 excited furbabies who run and bring me their favourite toy
๐Ÿ˜‡ morning coffee
๐Ÿ˜‡ daily walks in nature
๐Ÿ˜‡ having an interaction with a neighbour as I walk the doggies
๐Ÿ˜‡ the feeling of freshly washed sheets
๐Ÿ˜‡ the satisfaction after exercise

Appreciating these small things being joy each day. Not everyday will feel amazing but focussing on these little moments will bring some light.
