"Are there problems in your life that seem like they’ll never change?

It turns out being stuck is not an endpoint, it’s a clue.

Wherever there is something in your life that is impossible to think, feel, or do, you’re finding the exact spot where the next steps in your life are waiting to unfold.

It doesn’t matter how long ago it got all jammed up. The right next step of your life can still happen. And when you understand that transformation happens where something in your life feels impossible, it becomes possible to lean toward what feels bad. You can gather it to you, listen to it, love it. The place that seems so hopelessly stuck will untangle itself when you give it the attention it needs.

What is the attention it needs and how do you provide it? That’s what this book is about.

Based on 30 years of teaching, practice, and exploration, Untangling shows you how to create the environment in which impasse can transform into flow" Barbara Mcgavin & Ann Wiser Cornell

Here is the Poem

The Most Important Thing – Julia Fehrenbacher
I am making a home inside myself. A shelter
of kindness where everything
is forgiven, everything allowed—a quiet patch
of sunlight to stretch out without hurry,
where all that has been banished
and buried is welcomed, spoken, listened to—released.

A fiercely friendly place I can claim as my very own.

I am throwing arms open
to the whole of myself—especially the fearful,
fault-finding, falling apart, unfinished parts, knowing
every seed and w**d, every drop
of rain, has made the soil richer.

I will light a candle, pour a hot cup of tea, gather
around the warmth of my own blazing fire. I will howl
if I want to, knowing this flame can burn through
any perceived problem, any prescribed
perfectionism,
any lying limitation, every heavy thing.

I am making a home inside myself
where grace blooms in grand and glorious
abundance, a shelter of kindness that grows
all the truest things.

I whisper hallelujah to the friendly
sky. Watch now as I burst into blossom.

When we practice focusing, we sit quietly, notice our bodily sensations, and explore our inner experience as if it were a dear friend. Through this process, we gain access to our emotions, patterns, and wisdom, ultimately learning to befriend what is going on inside ourselves. Focusing is particularly useful for accessing inner wisdom and healing trauma.

If you need this kind of support
I offer 1:1 sessions both online and in person and I teach Focusing courses online.

"TOUCH FIRST

TOUCH is the only sense which appears in the embryo. The special senses of taste, smell, hearing and vision, which enable us to perceive and comprehend the outside world, all come on line before birth. But, of the exteroceptors, is it only touch that emerges during the embryonic period, the first eight weeks of gestation. In this way, it is marked out as the most crucial of our senses. Even as tiny embryos, we are touch beings. We literally cannot survive without touch.

How wonderful then, that, as craniosacral therapists, we are virtuosos of haptic awareness, touch specialists par excellence. " Katherine Ukleja

Often, the true essence of the ‘felt sense’, as conceptualized by Eugene Gendlin, is not fully understood. It’s mistakenly perceived as merely a sensation, which is a misinterpretation. The ‘felt sense’ encapsulates the entirety of our experiences and meanings, signifying that our bodies comprehend aspects of our circumstances that our minds may overlook.
Gendlin would often suggest that while our minds can offer numerous interpretations, it’s essential to delve deeper within ourselves to truly understand our experiences. By slowing down our thought process and focusing our attention inward, we can identify unique elements of our experiences, such as a peculiar, dense , grey ball-like something in the belly.
This isn’t something that originates from our conscious, left-brain thinking. Instead, it’s a manifestation of a deeper level of experience that we access when we engage with our ‘felt sense’. By acknowledging and working with these sensations, we can tap into a profound understanding of our experiences.

Come home
to yourself,
with soft
and gentle care.

When
overwhelmed,
overworked,
empty or
blue.

Come home
and greet you,
tenderly
and true.

If the river
runs dry
except
for the
tears
you cry.

Pushing through
until you crash
dims your light.
Embers smoulder,
and turn to ash.

Come home
to the soul
that is you.
Feel the love
energise and
flow through.

If you want to draw
from the creative well,
you really must fall in love
within this space you dwell.

Come home, to
awaken your senses,
move your body,
find your rhythm
and sing.

Your life is an
exquisite dance.
Shine your light
and step in.

In this 10 week course trainees gain the ability to Focus and Listen inside a Focusing partnership. They learn the basics of the Focusing process and how to be a nurturing companion to both your own and your partners process. Focusers are taught to guide themselves through the process of being with what they are sensing on the inside. The Focuser learns to be in charge of their own Focusing process and to ask for what they need from their companion. We spend time with developing the qualities of presence and how we can support these qualities when we are companioning our Focusing partner. Advanced listening skills are taught such as reflecting our understanding of what the Focuser means to convey and using the word something as an empathic prompt to stay a bit longer with what is not yet clear or known. Companions are also given a script for a “Lead-In,” and ask the Focuser before the session starts if s/he would like to be led in.

All 10 class sessions will incorporate a hands-on approach to learning by starting with a group experiential practice of a focusing session or providing an experience related to focusing. This interactive method is considered the most effective way to grasp the concepts and allows each student to discover their own unique style of supporting this process. It will be accompanied by informative discussions on theory and technique. Additionally, there will be live demonstrations of one-on-one focusing sessions involving class participants.

This course, led by Marie Connors, is a powerful and deep Foundation to this empowering body centred process of listening to your inner self.

Focusing is a process of allowing our bodies to show us the way to deeper self-knowledge and healing. It is a doorway to your true self. Our bodies have their own consciousness, aliveness, and intelligence. They carry wisdom and knowledge about what is happening in our lives, about where we are stuck or holding ourselves back, about what we need to heal from our past hurts and what are the right next steps to bring us more vitality and fulfillment in our lives. Focusing shows you how to form a trusting relationship with your body, to begin to turn towards your body as a place of goodness and intelligence and slow down enough to notice how you are on the inside. You learn to have a conversation with your body and listen to what it wants you to know. When you let your body speak to you, you are allowing yourself to open to the depth and truth of your whole self. It can feel like something held tight has come unstuck, providing more space and aliveness and sometimes a new sense of direction and fresh energy can emerge.

This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as a first step for health and healing professionals in bringing Focusing to their clinical practice.

By the end of the course you will
Have experience of practicing Focusing

You will have learnt to listen to yourself and others with your whole being, and with deep acceptance

Have the ability to express yourself honestly, skillfully and respectfully

Know how to listen without judgment as you deeply tune into another person’s experience

Learnt how to befriend your inner experience, how to be with your experience in a curious, respectful and allowing way so you create the conditions for the change you seek

You will be half way to completing your Foundations in Focusing to become part of the world wide Focusing Partnership community and further your Focusing Training.

Learning Focusing teaches you how to encourage a Listening process either as a Focusing guide for yourself or someone else. It's such an essential part of Focusing is to listen in a way that is unobtrusive, and it's such a great skill to have because a lot of people have forgotten how to listen.

Our Story

Welcome to Feeling Your Health About Marie

I became a Holistic Massage Therapist in 2008. I moved into the area of body work from a desire to help people find more health and ease in their bodies. I continued to deepen my experience of Bodywork and was first introduced to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy in 2011. I have been deeply engaged with it since then. The first time I had a Biodynamic CranioSacral session it was like my whole body was being cradled in a hammock and I could feel a sense of being at home in myself. A feeling of safety, ease and connection and wholeness. What a truly amazing gift to have been given, to be held at such a deep level.

I offer a caring, nurturing touch in a safe relational environment in which the client can feel seen received and heard with unconditional acceptance. I empower and educate people towards their full potential for health and wellbeing.

I work from Naduir Holistic Centre Furbo, Galway 20mins drive from Galway city. It is surrounded by beautiful woodlands and gardens. It is custom built to high ecological standards which gives a healthy warm feeling in the therapy room. Click here for directions to Naduir http://naduir.blogspot.ie/2013/02/directions-to-naduir-center-for.html I also offer treatments from my Therapy room in my home in Barna.
