You’re not changing because you haven’t lost enough…
Every coach craps on about “sitting in the uncomfortable” - it’s now become a ‘catch phrase of coaching’. And im over it.
while it’s true, the more you hear it, the less impact it has.
Truthfully, most people don’t really understand what it means.
If you’re lucky, the amount you’re willing to sacrifice to grow of your current life, will be far less, than others who need to lose everything, until they look inward, reflect and change.
There’s a reason snakes, lobsters etc shed their skin, shell - in order to grow… and you’re here, sitting in your fuzzy warm house, scared of going to a group function because ‘people are mean’.
No one does the work anymore.
let’s clarify!
You have a nice home, partner, kids, job.
You wake up. Same time. Make your coffee. Work. Home. Tv. Bed.
But it’s boring. But it’s mundane. You HAAAATE it.
And yet?
It’s EVERYTHING.
If you lost that, your life would no longer be the same. You’d be FORCED to change.
For me? I was always fit (ish) - until I wasn’t.
It was the unfulfilling relationship, staying home, isolate; eat. Repeat. Not because I was being abused.
Because of Neglect.
And instead of stand up for myself, I accepted it without a second thought. It was better than my growing up filled with screaming, abuse, rejection, violence and loss.
So I stayed.
Then I got sick. My body was PHYSICALLY REJECTING the life I had unknowingly chosen for myself. To the point I struggled to raise my son.
Lose my son? And then it became clear.
F**k no.
And everything shifted. Everything changed.
And in what seemed like an instant; I shed my skin, and changed.
The thought? Uncomfortable. Unbearable.
I had lost ENOUGH.
So how much are you willing to lose? Honestly? Because if you’re not ready yet, it means your suffering isn’t enough. And you have control over it.
