We had the greatest honour of gifting local legend Police veteran former Sergeant Ivan George "Bill" Warner OAM a bright royal blue Ever Rose to celebrate his 100th Birthday.✨🎂 💙🌹🫶🏻✨
The room was filled with awe as everyone attentively listened to all the amazing speeches commemorating Bill on his incredible career achievements, brief life history and for reaching a lifetime milestone. The level of astute Bill displayed during his speeches was nothing short of amazing as family, friends and special guests from parliament along with Channel 7 news were left impressed and inspired. A true legacy built upon multiple decades of devotion to the community,
Bill was named a Living Treasure to the City of Greater Dandenong for all his incredible civic and voluntary service to the community and has a reserved named after him "The Warner Reserve" in Furnew Street, Springvale. In Bill's early life, he studied as an engineer and eventually joined Victoria Police at the age of 25 in 1951. With a colourful career paired with his lived experience working in the community, he gained insight and wisdom which lead him to serve for 33 years in the force. In 1971 he received the Queen's Police Medal and Bill retired in 1983, recognized for his leadership & devotion towards the community by receiving the Chief Commissioner's Certificate for sustained, outstanding and loyal service.
Outside of his career, he was elected a councillor for the City of Springvale in 1969 and was mayor three times in 1972, 1975 and 1981. Renowned for his youth work and awarded for Distinguished Service to the Scout Movement in 1984, the same year he received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to local government and the community. In 1993, Bill was named Citizen of the Year for his extensive service to Springvale (now Greater Dandenong) and in 2001 Bill was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation during the International Year of Volunteers. Bill is the only living recipient of Freemasons Victoria Hall of Fame, he founded 11 different Masonic Lodges and served as Worshipful Master of Spring Vale Lodge 389 for 2 years and received his 75th year jewel in 2024.
These honourary mentions are only a small percentage of a very long list of lifetime achievements. Bill's profound impact and charitable nature continues to inspire all the different community networks that he has graced.
A big shout out to police veteran Alan Salter, CEO of Police Veterans Victoria Debra Richardson and Carla Deale for organising a wonderful ceremony and morning tea to honour a very special local living legend.
Happy 100th Birthday Bill!

We had almost 200 people gathered at the Boyd Chapel in Springvale Botanical Cemetery to farewell the late Mr Robert "Rob" Gasparroni.
A customised Coles truck joined us on the day named "Rob G" to commemorate his legacy along with many of his colleagues both in uniform & off duty to join all his family, friends and loved ones.
Rob was a man who served his people and left an unforgettable mark on the entire community.
With well over a decade of service to Coles as a delivery specialist, he made sure all his customers were looked after.
Special mention to one of our celebrants Anne Edwards who lead the service with her presence & comforting voice.
At Allison Monkhouse, we take great pride in serving those who service the community.

It was an absolute honour that the IndoChinese Elderly Association in Blackburn requested Allison Monkhouse to be the judging panel for their event! All of the elderly dressed up beautifully & presented so well for the fashion show! It was a difficult decision indeed picking the finalists, we were pleased to spend the day reveling in all the amazing outfits! ✨🫶🏻✨

The opening of the new foyer isn’t just a renovation - it’s an invitation.
A space of hospitality, warmth, and connection.
A place where people can feel a sense of belonging from the moment they walk in.
I truly believe this new foyer will open doors - literally and spiritually - for more people to encounter community, comfort, and faith.
On Sunday, we had the real joy and honour of representing Allison Monkhouse Funerals - and also simply being there as someone whose heart has always been deeply connected to St John Vianney’s Church.
This parish was such a big part of my life growing up. I was blessed to be part of the youth group there, surrounded by community, friendship, and faith that helped shape the person I am today. For many years I also volunteered with Rosies, supporting those experiencing homelessness. Those experiences taught me what this parish continues to live so beautifully: compassion, welcome, and Christ’s love in action.
That’s why Sunday felt especially meaningful.
On behalf of my colleagues, and from my own heart, congratulations on this wonderful milestone.

We were honoured to be part of the Remembrance Day Service at Noble Park RSL on Tuesday 11th November, marking 107 years since the Armistice was signed to end World War 1.
We laid a wreath in honour of those who died while serving in conflicts and peace-keeping operations. 🧡
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them".

Our beginnings can be traced back to the early 19th century England. Born in Liverpool in 1806, Thomas Allison established himself as a cabinet maker, blind maker and undertaker in Camberwell, London. It was there in 1844 that John was born.
In the 1860s, John Allison arrived in Melbourne and soon after purchased the business of John Little in Simpsons Road (Victoria St), Richmond, which had commenced there in 1851. Richmond would become the headquarters of the firm for many years.
John’s sons, Jack and Roy, took over from their father before he died in 1921. After buying out his brother’s share in the late 1920s, Roy changed the firm’s name to John (Roy V) Allison. In doing so, Roy distinguished it from the other competing firms of Allison.
In 1944, Roy’s sons John and Rob were taken into partnership by Roy. When they returned after service during the war, they became involved in the management of the business.
In 1956, they purchased a funeral business operated by Norman Monkhouse in Brighton and Sandringham in the name of its founder, J. Monkhouse & Son. After Roy’s death in 1957, John and Rob carried on the business in equal ownership.
In the 1970’s Clive, Rob’s son and the fifth generation Allison to be in the funeral business, entered the firm. Since 1988, he has been Managing Director and has continued to make Allison Monkhouse one of the foremost funeral firms in the world.
Throughout the history of the firm, a number of Allisons have been recognised publicly for their contributions to the funeral industry.
Roy was elected Honorary Life Member of the Australian Funeral Directors’ Association (AFDA). He, along with his son, John, were elected Fellows of the British Institute of Embalmers. Roy was the first Fellow outside of the UK.
John was elected Life Councillor of the AFDA in 1969; Rob in 1978. In 1995, Rob was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), for service to the funeral industry, including his role in the return of the Unknown Soldier, and to the community.
More recently, Clive was thanked by both the Swedish and Australian governments for his work in the tsunami relief in Thailand.
All of this achievement would not be possible without the continuing help of loyal staff, many of whom have had a long association in our company’s history. Allison Monkhouse is a family owned company with a real sense of family amongst our staff. A caring family firm encourages caring staff.
