💪🏼 Exercise of the Week 💪🏼

Banded Face Pull

The banded face pull is a great exercise for strengthening the muscles of the upper back and shoulders, helping support posture and reduce unnecessary strain through the neck.

This month we’ve been discussing cervical facet sprains, which is irritation of the small joints in the neck that can lead to stiffness, neck pain and tension through the shoulders. Strengthening the muscles around the shoulder blades can help provide better support to the neck and improve overall movement.

Why we like this exercise:
✔️ Strengthens upper back and rear shoulder muscles
✔️ Encourages better posture
✔️ Supports the neck by improving shoulder blade control

How to perform:
Attach a resistance band at face height. Pull the band towards your face while leading with your elbows and gently squeezing your shoulder blades together. Slowly return to the start and repeat.

💡 Tip: Keep your shoulders relaxed and avoid shrugging, the work should come from your upper back, not your neck.

If you’re experiencing neck pain or stiffness, our practitioners can help guide you through the right exercises for your recover

POWER CIRCUIT MEMBER OF THE WEEK - CAROL 👏

If I woke up tomorrow wanting to start strength training but had no confidence in the gym, this is exactly how I’d do it.

STEP 1:
Book an $89.00 trail pack of Power Circuit classes at Western Region Health. (Link in bio).

STEP 2:
Turn up nervous… but quickly realise everyone started somewhere. The coaches guide you, the community supports you, and you slowly start believing in yourself.

STEP 3:
Keep showing up. Week after week.
Your confidence grows, you feel stronger, and looking after your health becomes something you’re proud of - not something you struggle to stay consistent with.

Because real change doesn’t come from doing something once.

It comes from showing up consistently… just like Carol. 💪

💪🏼Exercise of the Week💪🏼

Supine Chin Tucks!

If you caught our Condition of the Month post about cervical facet sprains, this exercise is a great place to start when it comes to supporting your neck.

A cervical facet sprain occurs when the small joints in your neck become irritated or inflamed. These joints help guide and control movement of your neck, and when they’re unhappy you might notice stiffness, pain with turning your head, headaches, or discomfort looking up or down.

That’s where supine chin tucks come in! 👇

This simple but powerful exercise helps to:
✨ Activate your deep neck stabilising muscles
✨ Improve posture and neck control
✨ Reduce strain on irritated facet joints
✨ Support the neck during everyday movements

How to do it:
1️⃣ Lie on your back with your knees bent and head relaxed.
2️⃣ Gently tuck your chin toward your chest (like you’re making a “double chin”).
3️⃣ Keep the back of your head on the surface, think of lengthening the back of your neck, not lifting your head.
4️⃣ Hold for 5 seconds, then relax.
5️⃣ Repeat for 8–10 reps.

💡 Tip: This movement should feel subtle and controlled, not forced.

Exercises like this help retrain the muscles that support your neck so those sensitive joints don’t have to do all the work.

If you’ve ever experienced a stiff or sore neck and wondered what to do about it, this is a great place to start! And as always, if something doesn’t feel right, chat to your practitioner so we can tailor things specifically for you.

Stay tuned as we keep sharing more tips and exercises to help you better understand and manage cervical facet sprains this month! 🙌

🌸 International Women’s Day 🌸

Over the long weekend, we took some time to pause, reflect, and ask a few of our amazing staff members some questions about what International Women’s Day means to them.

Every day in clinic we’re inspired by the women around us, from the dedicated practitioners caring for our community, to the admin girls who balance the day to day, to the resilient patients working hard through recovery, to the incredible women we see balancing work, family, sport, and everything in between. 💪✨

This day is about recognising the strength, compassion, and determination that women bring to every space they step into. Whether it’s advocating for their health, supporting others, leading in their fields, or simply showing up each day with courage, these moments deserve to be celebrated.

We’re proud to be surrounded by such inspiring women in our team and in our community. 💜

We can’t help but boast about our own amazing women here, especially our ‘Boss Lady’ Jade, who built our empire from the ground up.

Here’s to continuing to support, empower, and uplift one another, today and every day.

Ever notice how simple instructions suddenly become very open to interpretation in the treatment room? 😂

“Just lie on your back.”
Patient: somehow sideways with one knee up and half off the pillow.

“Turn onto your side.”
Patient: full body twist like they’re auditioning for yoga class.

“Relax your neck”
Patient: immediately tenses every muscle possible.

We promise the instructions are simple… but honestly, the creative interpretations give us some of the best laughs in clinic. 🤣

Don’t worry, we’ll happily guide you into the right spot (eventually). And yes… we still love you all. 💙

💪🏼Exercise of the Week 💪🏼

Seated Row!

Our condition of the month is a cervical facet sprain, so this week’s exercise is all about helping support your neck the right way.

The seated row is a great movement for strengthening the muscles through your upper back and shoulder blades the muscles that help keep your neck supported, posture strong, and shoulders sitting where they should. 🙌

When these muscles are working well, they take pressure off the small joints in your neck (including the cervical facets) and help prevent that stiff, cranky feeling many people get from sitting, working, or scrolling too long. 📱➡️😬

✨ Why we love it:
• Improves posture
• Supports the neck and upper spine
• Strengthens the muscles that help reduce strain on cervical joints

Slow, controlled, and squeeze those shoulder blades! Your neck will thank you. 👏

Stay tuned as we keep sharing tips, exercises and advice throughout the month to help you better understand and manage cervical facet sprains. 🧠🦴
