⚡️Attention Melton and Bacchus Marsh Foot Clinic clients and friends!...⚡️

As you are all well aware, as of tomorrow public mask/face covering wear is now mandatory for people living in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. 😷

When attending our clinics, we kindly remind you to wear a mask or face covering.

As advised by DHHS, there will be some reasons not to wear a face covering. For example, those who have a medical reason, children under 12, those who have a professional reason or during strenuous exercise.

We look toward to putting a smile on your dial, even if it is hidden behind the mask... We will still see it in your eyes! 🙊😷👣

The cold chill is here!... And your feet take the first hit when you poke them out from under the covers to test if you should press snooze on the alarm. So with Winter closing is fast - it's a timely reminder to think about your footwear and simple steps you can add to your routine.

This week we continuing to see more and more clients that have recently increased their running due to the impacts of COVID-19.
Tim has some more great tips for all runners, whether you’re just starting, or experienced.

Todays hot tips:
• Progressively overload and seek help! •

🏃🏽 Start with shorter total times of high intensity workload.
If you don’t normally run, but want to start jogging, begin with walking first and gradually increase the pace… Don’t be afraid to walk!
Remember the 10% rule.
Gradually increase the length and intensity of your runs by a total of 10% each week. We strongly recommend keeping a running log. Things to include in the log include how frequently you’re running, distance travelled, time taken to complete, how you felt and the weather conditions.

🏃‍♀️ If you’re having any pain, discomfort or niggling little injuries, seek help!
Don’t hesitate to book an appointment with us. It so much better to get things seen to early. Attempting 'run through an injury’, or hoping 'it will just go away' will increase risk of a chronic injury.
We are all experienced runners and love helping runners! We’ll be more than happy to work together to get you back on your 👣

We are seeing growing numbers of clients that have recently increased their running due to the impact of COVID-19.

Tim has some great tips for all runners, whether you be just starting, or experienced.

Keep reading for todays hot tip!

👣 Tip of the day - Check your shoes 👣

Did you know most running shoes last 600-800kms?
Running in old or worn out shoes leads to increased stress via reduced shock absorption, and reduced stability.
Get yourself a supportive shoe that can absorb the ground reaction force.
What does a supportive shoe mean?
- Has a firm heel counter, has fixation (shoe laces) and doesn’t twist too much.
Check the tread and wear patterns. If the tread is overly worn, or the shoe is worn and compressed unevenly, its probably time for an upgrade!
We are able to give you lots of advice and direction with running footwear in clinic, and also like to refer to our friends at The Running Company Ballarat for gait analysis and shoe prescription.

Hi, my name is Tim and I’m the newest Podiatrist to the Melton and Bacchus Marsh Foot Clinics.

I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences and Masters in Podiatric Practice. Before studying Podiatry I completed a degree in Biomedical Sciences.

I grew up in the western suburbs and have worked in various jobs. I started my first job at Best n Less (10 years later I’m still on the books), spent 3 years coaching 3-5 year olds sports program, some truck driving in between and for the past few years I have also been a maintenance man at my old school.

Outside of work before COVID-19, I enjoyed playing soccer, kicking the footy and watching the footy. I also enjoy doing some gardening and being outdoors. Coronavirus permitting (🙄) at the end of December I’m getting married to my gorgeous fiancé, Ali.

I really love my job and being apart of the team here, it’s like one big family! I really look forward to meeting more of our lovely clients.

Hello, my name is Jonathon and I’ve been a Podiatrist at Melton and Bacchus Marsh Foot Clinics for just over 12 months now. I enjoy a short trip down the freeway from Westmeadows every morning where I live with my fiancé Raquel.

I completed my education at La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Masters of Podiatric Practice in 2016. I have previously worked in private clinics on the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne specialising in all aspects of Podiatry where I gained a great deal of experience.

I have a passion for Podiatry and love making my patients feel better within themselves by tending to all of the foot and ankle needs. This includes general treatment, biomechanical cases, nails surgeries, orthotics and wound/ulcer management.

When I’m not in the clinic I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love fitness and keeping fit, and am a keen mountain bike rider.
