Great Barrier Reef - Moore Reef

We did a full day tour to the outer reef and we all had the best time! We went out to Moore reef, they have a massive pontoon with a waterslide into the ocean, a glass bottom boat, a submersible boat, fish feeding platform and marine life talks - plus a buffet lunch all included. It took us about 2hrs to get out to the reef (we stopped at Fitzroy island for passengers to get on and off) and as soon as we got there we donned our stinger suits and hopped in the water!

Thanks to Jase our kids are not afraid of the ocean! Me, on the other hand, am a big sook šŸ˜‚ I snorkelled though and wasn’t afraid at all because we were with so many other people. I absolutely loved watching our kids, who have been snorkelling since they were tiny, just hop in the water without life jackets (not even many adults were doing that!) and dive down to the bottom whenever they found something interesting they wanted to look at. It was such a fun day! We even got to see a sea turtle!

Cairns Coconut Resort
30th October - 6th November

After we left Lucinda we drove straight up to Cairns. We booked into the Ingenia Coconut Resort Caravan Park. It’s massive and has plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained! We all rate Airlie Beach Big 4 Adventure Park better though!

The closer we got to Cairns, the more I was just in absolute awe of the landscape! It’s is stunning. The mountains and greenery with the tropical weather, light blue ocean, islands in the background is just šŸ‘ŒšŸ½.

We have visited Babinda Boulders, Lake Pleasant, the lagoon in the city, breakfast on the esplanade, Palm Cove and lots more!

Hervey Bay

5th October - 22nd October

We spent a good couple of weeks in Hervey Bay checking it out! Lots (and lots and LOTS!) of swimming for the kiddies! Probably not quite as many park plays but they were up there too! As were the ice creams 🤣

We went for a drive to Bundaberg and checked out the brewery - Luke ā€˜got his face on some ginger beer’ as he likes to keep reminding us šŸ˜‚ (see pic - non alcoholic, of course!).

Jase’s sister and family came up for a week and we had the best time - the kids loved hanging with their cousins all week and we loved having other grown ups to talk to šŸ˜‚

We almost bought a house too - just continuing to be the spur of the moment people we are!

We visited Fraser Island twice, saw two dingoes, had a ball at Eli Creek and were speechless when we saw Lake Mackenzie.

We visited the botanic gardens and saw so many turtles in the pond!

Jase & Luke went fishing and saw many sea turtles!

We visited Terra Tribe farm where the kids got their farm fix of baby animals and an epic slip and slide!

And most importantly I got to catch up with my beautiful life long friend and her family 🩷

I’m just here to say it’s not all rainbows and lollipops.
There have been so many sibling fights, parent arguments, kids constantly pushing the boundaries, bed time dramas…all the bedtime dramas!

So while you see the highlight reel you don’t see the days where there are lots of:
ā€˜I’m bored’
ā€˜I’m hungry’
ā€˜Muuuuum - he/she touched me!’
ā€˜Tell her/him to stop looking at me!’
ā€˜How much longer’
ā€˜I’m sick of driving’
ā€˜I want to go home’
(Currently the youngest child has thrown a piece of licked popcorn at her older brother, he is melting down over it because he put it in his mouth and I’m trying not to laugh while also telling them this is the most ridiculous thing ever and to just STOP!’

We also don’t have an ā€˜Insta worthy’ van or set up - most of the time there is stuff everywhere, we’re all in each others way, someone hasn’t put something back where it goes and despite having less than a tenth of our usual belongings with us, things still get misplaced & then everything has to be upturned to find it again.

We miss our pets & we’re in the middle of selling the last property that we have. We don’t have a home to go back to. We want to relocate but don’t know where to. Even though we feel it’s the right move, the unknown is scary and exciting all rolled into one.

So while there is a lot of frustration and uncertainty there is a lot more fun, connection & new experiences had together.

I know we’ll never get this time with each other & our kids back so I’m willing to soak it all up - and when I look back I know that all I’ll remember is the highlight reel 🩷

Sunshine Coast - Part 2.
After the 5 nights we left the house (to be honest none of us wanted to get back in the camper after being in such a beautiful house šŸ˜‚) and came to stay with my brother and sister in law. They have a beautiful property with a gorgeous rainforest vibe. We’ve all had the best time together, the kids love being on land, feeding the chickens and playing with the dogs (we are all missing our pets SO much!)
We’ve had dinner around the fire pit together, gone for drives and walks and just hung out.

Jase and I went and experienced a sensory deprivation float for the first time! (Thanks to for having the kids!)
We did a couples one (not in a pod, it was just like a big, shallow, rectangle pool). We both loved it and it was so nice to do something different together! Afterwards I had the best sleep I’ve had in over 6 weeks! And I still feel relaxed 2 days later! I highly recommend giving it a go!

We are moving on to Hervey Bay next! I’m coming at ya!

Sunshine Coast - Part 1.
September 24 - October 4

We have been so excited to get back to the Sunny Coast! Our last holiday here in May was a bit of a flop with us all getting really sick.

So, of course, two days before we were due to arrive here, everyone (except me!) got sick again šŸ˜…

We decided to book some accommodation and we got so lucky as my sister in law works for Holiday Mooloolaba and was able to get us an amazing house for 5 nights! We loved the space and having our own pool! The kids swam their little hearts out day and night and we relaxed. We ate delicious food and even had a date night. Kids got haircuts, we swam at the beach & we paid $15 per frozen yoghurt for the girls at a self serve place…lesson learnt šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

We caught up with my beautiful friend and her little fam - but no photos this time! We were too busy taking kids to the toilet, shopping and trying to order food at a bloody vegan cafe to take any šŸ˜‚
Love that despite the craziness of kids our time together is so easy! šŸ’—

We also went on the Aquaduck! It was Luke’s only request last time we were here but due to everyone being unwell we didn’t make it. At least we can say we’ve done it nowā€¦šŸ¤£

September 22nd - 24th
Rathdowney, QLD

Low cost caravan park.

We stopped here for two nights after a long day driving. A really small town with a pub & a super low cost caravan park! Very basic bathrooms and power & water if needed - $30 for the two nights.
It was on the edge of the sports oval with a nice view of the mountains. The drive here was really beautiful.

The caravan park is a short walk over to the playground and info centre where they have a little museum that was a gold coin entry. We also had dinner at the pub which was lovely!

The kids have been unwell so played a lot of PokƩmon! We walked around looking for them and that kept them entertained.
The kids and I also got swooped by plovers - I really wish I could have been an observer of that šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

One downside to the camper is the very thin, canvas walls…the second night we were parked next to another camper that contained a snorer. Not ideal but all part of the experience šŸ˜…

We got up early Sunday and headed straight to the Sunshine Coast where we have rented a beautiful house for 5 nights!

Abercrombie River Free Camp

Finally, really and truly on the road now!!

This was a nice little free camp, just off the road & on the river. On the drive there we saw some emus, a mob of pigs & a wombat crossing the road.

Stopped in Taralga at the park for a play. They had some cool iron signs on the side of the road - we read about drop bears, bunyips & the thylacine!

When we first arrived at the camp we collected firewood. The kids, especially Chloe, did an amazing job!

Kids had an absolute ball exploring. The first evening they had a ā€˜fire building’ competition. They set up their own campfires and sitting areas and we had to judge each one!

I barely saw them the second day as they were off building a teepee. Jase went for a hike too, so I had a few hours of quiet time! I even got a bit bored!

Lots of exploring along the river, some 4 wheel driving, eating yummy food that no one complained about because there was no other option! No phone service which was amazing! (This also means not many photos as I didn’t have my phone on me!)

Oh and Chloe lost TWO teeth in one day…that was a fun time for the tooth fairy šŸ§šā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£

I think I’ve been a bit delusional.

We’ve been lucky enough to have quite small mortgages on our properties that have been super affordable. We sold one property recently & had a win, which is great - don’t get me wrong!

But the reality is that if we are to move forward in the property market with interest rates as they are, is that affordable? Is that what we want? Do we want to be living to work??! No. No I don’t. I don’t want my husband working his butt off every single day, long hours in a physically demanding job to then come home and have to do all the admin that’s required when you have your own business to then fall asleep on the couch because he’s so tired. For him to get up and have to do it all again the next day. To have only a few hours on the weekend to enjoy our children. No. Nup. Not happening!

We all want more time. How do we get time? Money. Money gives us time. It gives us options. It allows us freedom that we don’t otherwise have. To spend our days doing what we love rather than what we have to to survive.

The more people I talk to the more I am hit with the harsh reality of the financial strain so many regular families are under right now. I honestly didn’t realise the severity of it.

I want to grab people by the shoulders and shake them, I want to say ā€˜Here! I have this thing that can help you! If you are willing and you’ve got some balls to give it a go, you’ll be rewarded!! It takes a bit of dedication but isn’t that worth it?! To give you more time, more opportunity?! Isn’t it worth your family and your partner not having to stress and struggle?! Who gives a f**k what anyone else thinks!! You are here for you and yours only. Take the bloody hand that’s trying to help you. Just. Do. It.ā€

Are you doing it? Are you feeling the financial strain or are you sitting pretty? And if you’re sitting pretty, are you working your ass off for it with no freedom? I hope you are doing it easy, I really do! But if you’re not, what changes are you going to make?

Tell me how you’re going, like really, in the comments 🩵
