In the past 10 days, there have been more than 30 earthquakes in the Wheatbelt alone, with reports of some tremors even being felt as far as Perth – 200km away! 😲💥

This cluster of quakes is what you call an earthquake swarm – a series of moderate-sized quakes without a main distinct shock that can last for months. As WA is the most seismically active state in the country with more earthquakes than all the states and territories combined, it’s crucial to know what to do if one strikes.

What would you do if you felt an earthquake?

SES Search Dog Jackson training over the weekend. He’s trained to find “human scent”
In the bush, even the smallest object like a dropped hat or discarded drink bottle could be a clue in a real search for a missing person. An actual person is much easier for a dog as they give off a lot of scent, so we train and test them with small scent articles as well. Here is one of his finds from the weekend, it’s a small pieces of cloth. This has 30 hr old human scent on it. The scent is created by getting someone to rub the cloth over their face and head, becomes a mixture of sweat and skin particles. Good boy Jackson!
