When I started triathlon all those years ago (15yrs ago!) this man had just ticked over 71 and back then was an absolute legend in long distance triathlon. Still going strong at 86, we must take our hats off to him. He embodies the statement, ‘If you don’t use it you lose it’. Don’t stop using it Garth! Such a stalwart of movement- what an inspiration

A huge shout-out to Tri NZ's legendary, inspirational and absolutely awesome Patron Garth Barfoot who completed the TCS London Marathon overnight...at 86 years young!

Garth recorded a time of 08:17:19 to become the second oldest finisher ever in London.

Next up? A wee spot of Kiwi cheerleading at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona before tackling the Super Sprint and Olympic distance races at the World Triathlon Championship Series grand finale in Abu Dhabi next month.

We're struggling to keep up and are completely in awe. A doff of Tri NZ's collective cap, Mr Barfoot!

I urge everybody to get into the gym (I do recommend Movement Plus Miami 😉). What appear to be basic ‘gym/weight’ movements are so transferable to real world living, and strength and conditioning work is vital to good overall health and injury prevention, especially as we age!

Hi, meet Andrew Taylor Still! ✨🙋‍♂️

Working as a physician in the 1800s, AT Still witnessed sometimes harmful and ineffective practices (including giving patients arsenic and o***m!) resulting in much suffering and death. The loss of his three children to spinal meningitis cemented his focus on discovering the root of disease rather than curing symptoms.

AT Still pioneered the concept of "wellness'' and treating illness from a context of the whole body. He proposed that the alignment and balance of the musculoskeletal system directly influenced the body's ability to function and heal itself via it's relationship to blood and nerve flow.

And thus osteopathy was born! 🙌 His success in treating patients gained much popularity and many people became interested in learning his methods. There are now schools all over the world teaching osteopathic medicine with our numbers growing every year.

Osteopathy continues to prove itself as a SAFE, GENTLE and EFFECTIVE form of treatment and we look forward to telling you more over the coming week!
