👣 We grilled one of our Podiatrists, Archer Platt, with some toe-tally serious questions & a few just for kicks...
🐊 CROCS: fashion or crime?
A: Depends on the number of widgets. >5 is FASHION.
Q: Is it really bad to wear slides all day?
A: Depends on the slides & your feet! We come in all shapes & sizes. Usually, we just have to find the right slide for you.
🍍 Pineapple on pizza?
A: I only eat pizza if it’s been blessed by a pineapple.
Q: Orthotics or just new shoes?
A: An assessment tells us. Sometimes a new pair of shoes solves it (best case), sometimes we need a little extra correction with orthotics.
🍷 If your feet could talk at the end of the day?
A: Time for a bottle of wine, a bath & a massage.
Q: Weirdest thing you’ve ever seen in a shoe?
A: Coral. (Yes… coral🪸)
📅 Archer Platt is now taking new patients at Medical on Miami & Medical on Robina. Give your feet the care (& style advice) they deserve!
👉 CONTROVERSIAL QUESH: CROCS... are they a cop or drop?

🩺My doctors just told me that I have diabetes. What does this mean??
Dr Amanda Adams is one of our wonderful doctors with a special interest in diabetes! Soooo, we asked her:
🙋What’s the difference between type 1 & type 2 diabetes?
Both conditions lead to high blood sugar (glucose), which can make you feel:
✔️ Tired
✔️ Very thirsty
✔️ Needing to urinate more often
However, the causes, treatments & prevention are very different:
🔹 Type 1 Diabetes (T1)
• Usually appears suddenly in children or teenagers.
• An auto-immune condition – the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
• NOT caused by diet or lifestyle.
• Not preventable or reversible.
• Requires lifelong insulin therapy (injections or a pump) + regular blood sugar monitoring.
🔹 Type 2 Diabetes (T2)
• Develops more gradually, mostly in adults.
• The body makes insulin but doesn’t use it properly.
• Strongly linked to genetics, weight, activity levels & age.
• Can often be PREVENTED or delayed with healthy lifestyle choices.
• Usually managed with lifestyle changes & tablets... many avoid needing insulin.
⚠️ Without good control, both T1 & T2 can lead to complications like:
❤️ Higher risk of heart attack or stroke
👁️ Eye damage
🦶 Foot problems
🧠 Anxiety & depression
…BUT these risks can be reduced or minimized!
💡 Key takeaway:
T1 is an autoimmune condition that requires lifelong insulin.
T2 is often lifestyle-related & can frequently be prevented or managed without insulin.
