The phrase ‘fed is best’ doesn’t tell the whole story. Feeding isn’t just about nutrition—it’s about connection, regulation, and development.
Fed is mandatory, its entry level. It’s not best. We want our babies to thrive, not just survive.

It’s okay if breastfeeding doesn’t look how you thought it would. Bottles, pumps, donor milk, or formula aren’t signs of failure—they’re tools that help us meet our babies’ needs. As a lactation consultant, I’m here to support your journey, whatever that looks like. You’ve got this!

A tongue tie release is an important step, but it's not the complete solution many expect it to be. The procedure works best as part of a comprehensive approach that includes proper pre and aftercare, feeding support, and often bodywork. It's the start of your journey toward improved feeding, not the end.

Sometimes mums come to us not feeling like their concerns have been heard by those around them. This sometimes includes well-intentioned friends/family and other times it's care providers. This makes it hard to trust your gut. We want you to know that we offer a place for you to go if this is what you are experiencing.

This is why we do a breast crawl in some way with every baby we work with. Doesn’t need to be at birth either so let your bub lead the way even for just a short part of each feed. Have a go and see how capable our little ones are.
Does it matter if babies do the breast crawl at their first post-birth breastfeed? Yes, according to this 2025 randomized controlled trial, which found significantly more exclusive breastfeeding in the breast-crawl group at 24 hours, Day 3, 1 month, and 6 months when compared to the standard skin-to-skin contact group. And there’s much more. Read all about it here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1111/mcn.70063

Tongue tie release. Some babies improve and some babies don't. Some babies never look back after a release and for others, it seems to makes no difference at all. Put in the comments why you think that might be.
