This meal was not “low in calories” but it still fit within my energy needs and it also managed my hunger, preventing the need to overeat for the rest of the day (which tends to happen when you try to eat low calorie options all day)!

The intention behind this meal wasn’t weight loss, it was getting lots of nutrients and having a tasty dinner!

For some reason - “healthy” food (ie. foods that offer lots of essential nutrients for our bodies) have become associated with being on a diet of the alternative option.

So if someone brought some carrots, hummus and hard boiled eggs in for a snack at work - 1. everyone would probably be mad at you for eating eggs in the office and 2. someone is bound to say “oh someone’s being healthy/good today”.

The food industry has become full of packaged, ultra-processed, convenience foods, and there’s somewhat a good reason for this as our lives are a lot busier now - but they’ve taught us (or ‘manufactured’ food) to prefer the taste of this over the real fresh stuff that is actually looking after our bodies.

So just because you’re eating healthy foods, it doesn’t mean you’re ‘on a diet’. You’re choosing options that you know are going to benefit you, make you feel great, taste great and with the added bonus of managing your weight in a healthy range.

Playing the long game for the long weekend👇

• Remember, to gain 1kg of fat - you would need to eat 7,700 calories above your usual maintenance intake
This can be done across the week, but highly unlikely in one day!

• These hollow eggs are 92cals each, that means you’d need to eat 12/day across the week or 84 in one day on top of your usual intake to gain 1kg of body fat!

• The 250g Cadbury Easter Bunnys are 1,350cals
That means you’d need to eat 6, either in one day or across the week on top of your usual intake to gain 1kg of body fat

• I’m going to go out on a limb and say no one wants to eat that much chocolate bc you’d feel pretty sick and not even enjoy it at that point

HACKS👇
• So if you’re wanting to enjoy the (bunny or egg shaped) milk chocolate over Easter, why not opt to portion that bunny out across the week or choose smaller eggs and have a couple a day

• This way you’re not missing out, you’re hitting your craving and it’s still within your energy needs - so no weight gain! WIN WIN!

• As always, instead of eating the chocolate eggs by themselves, pair them with a source of protein and fibre and you will be 1000% times less likely to want to eat 10 more eggs straight away

Happy Easter everyone🐰🌸

Last week I celebrated not only my birthday but the 1st year of ARK Wellbeing🧿✨

This past year, I’ve learnt how many of you are just looking for someone to trust amongst all the voices and opinions out there telling you how to eat.

And that the majority of you want to feel more comfortable, in control and have freedom around your food choices.

I could’ve stressed about my food choices over my weekend:
- accidently not having proper lunches or regular meal timings because I was so busy
- not having enough protein with breakfast
- eating more chocolate and cheese than usual

But I know that that’s not how I eat the majority of the time and it was one weekend where I was surrounded by people I love while eating and was wayy busier than I am usually.

This isn’t to say that when life gets busy or you’re socialising that it’s a good idea to do this (because that could end up being all the time!)

It’s important to look at the bigger picture, zoom out and ask yourself how often I do this and if it’s going to have a negative impact?

The first step is to decide you want to make this change, the second step is to book in for a free phone call to find out how you can finally make this a reality, once and for all.

PS. I think I came up with the best creation - Tiramousse!🤤
