International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year. It is a day to raise community awareness, understanding and acceptance of the 5.5 million people with disability in Australia. 🌏

The theme for International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) 2025 is ‘Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress.’

This theme reminds us that creating a fair and inclusive society is everyone’s responsibility. It’s about respecting the rights of people with disability and ensuring equal opportunities for all.

To make this happen, we need to:

💠 Remove barriers that prevent participation
💠 Ensure equal opportunities in all areas of life
💠 Provide accessible health care and education
💠 Include people with disability in every part of society

We also need to understand the challenges many people with disability face, such as poverty, unemployment and discrimination.

Be part of creating an inclusive and diverse community. Learn more at 🔗 idpwd.com.au

Together, we can create communities where everyone belongs. 💞

🌟 CONSUMER SPOTLIGHT – Shez 🏎️💨

For years, Shez dreamed of riding in a fast car. She’d heard about Driftabilities and couldn’t wait to experience it herself. Despite several applications from her Service Coordinator and staff, Shez kept missing out on a spot.

This year, everything changed! Shez’s Support Worker, Michelle, made it happen, and the excitement was next level. 🙌

On the big day, Shez headed to the event with Michelle and Service Coordintaor, Jodie, to check out the cars. What Shez didn’t know was that Michelle had arranged a surprise… Shez was going to ride in one of the drift cars! 🏎️💨

The look on her face when she found out? Priceless. Jodie says ‘Watching Shez's joy and her million-dollar smile as she went around in the fast car and did some burnouts was the highlight of the afternoon. Shez truly enjoyed her time in the drift car, and it was all thanks to Michelle for arranging this special experience for her..’ 💙

Consumer Spotlight - Shelley wins GOLD!! 🥇🏆

We are thrilled to be sharing some very exciting news about One2One consumer Shelley, who has won GOLD in the Australian Taekwondo National Championship. 🥳

One2One Service Coordinator, Jodie, shares the words below:

‘Shelley began Taekwondo in Oct 2022 and showed up every week with dedication, investing countless hours to master her routines.

In July 2025, Shelley received her Black Belt with her talent and determination earning her a spot in the Australian Taekwondo National Championship. 🥋

After training relentlessly and perfecting her techniques, Shelley, accompanied by her mum (Leanne), flew to Adelaide to compete where she was presented with the winning medallion! It was a proud moment for Shelley, Leanne and everyone around her. 🤩

I am one proud Service Coordinator of Shelley, and proud of her support staff for the support and encouragement they provide. 🙌

Shelly mentioned that she had an excellent time, and after the games, she enjoyed a well-deserved holiday for a few days. From all of us, a big congratulations to Shelly for her incredible achievement.’ 👏👏👏

📢 POSITION AVAILABLE - Support Worker

Are you ready to put in the miles to make an amazing impact in someone’s life? 💫

I am a friendly, very high energy 23 year old young woman living in my own home in Gosnells. 🏡

I am supported by a female team of support workers, and I am needing to expand my team to include some high energy males who can assist supporting me out in the community. If you have high energy, compassion, understanding, multiple methods of communicating and understanding non verbal communication, along with a fair bit of grit – this might be the role for you. 🙌

I am someone who lives by rituals, my compulsions make me feel safe and help me to stay regulated. This might mean that I appear to do strange things – but they make sense to me. Out in the community, this might seem strange to others who don’t know me, so I need you to support me through this because here is the thing – I can’t verbally communicate. I am looking for rockstar Support Workers who can assist me with this out and about.

I am always seeking sensory input, touch, see, smell, hear – I need it all. This makes getting out and about an adventure for us all. Are you fast paced and can you keep up with me? Let’s go on a hike and see. I don’t have the greatest safety awareness, so support with that will be on you. 🚶

I love getting out into the community, and I hope you will too! This is not without its challenges and my team are working tirelessly to support me to engage in making connections outside of my home. I am really excited to share these new adventures with you.

Who am I looking for?

I am looking for male Support Workers who can pair with my existing team, and help me access the community and activities that I enjoy safely. I am looking for Support Workers who can understand and follow process, but who also speak up 🗣️ and tell my team when something isn’t working. I need patient, fast paced and quick minded people around me to keep me safe.

✅ A calm presence: Someone who stays cool under pressure, remembers their training and brings a steady, centred energy.
✅ An energizer bunny: I am fast – and I have endless energy. I need someone who can keep up with me to ensure I am safe.
✅ An observer and a do-er: Communicating with me is more than just talking. It is listening and watching – I need someone who pays attention and can see what is coming next.

What is the role:

We are going to start off slow. I need time to get to know you and you need time to get to know me. These are visiting hourly supports through the day to support me to connect with my community and engage in activities outside of my home paid under the SCHADS award. My roster which is very routine, needs someone who is dedicated to set days with me, but who also has the flexibility to cover if needed.

Why join me?

Supporting me means more than just being a part of a team – it means being part of my life’s journey. When you really get to know me, you’ll get a sense of adventure and achievement as we walk this path. 🥰

So if you’re ready to bring your A game, follow proven process but also challenge the status quo, help me pave my way through adventure and fun safely, LET’S GO! 🎉

📢 POSITION AVAILABLE – Support Worker 📢

I am a young man in my 20’s with a keen interest in music, movies, and gaming. I am a very genuine and caring guy, with a good sense of humour. 🎵🎬🎮😅

I am currently living with my grandparents in their home in the Seville Grove area and alongside them, I have a great team and network of wonderful support staff around me who provide 24/7 support to assist me to continue living with my family. I also have a couple of small pet dogs that keep me company and whom I love to bits!! 🐶🐶

Maintaining my health and wellbeing takes a lot of work and is pretty involved. I require someone who is passionate and dedicated to helping me successfully get through my daily routine. The support I am needing includes personal care such as showering and grooming, posture support, PEG feeding and medication assistance, so experience with supporting someone with this is essential. Although my supports are required 24/7, I tend to be more awake and active during the evenings and am looking for staff who are comfortable working evenings and overnights with me. ⛅🌙

I want people in my life who are passionate and fun with good social skills who feel comfortable talking to me about day-to-day events. I don’t get to get out of my home much, so I rely on my team to share stories and keep me informed about the outside world. It is really important to me that I can get along with and have a laugh with my support team, but also trust that they are very serious and reliable when it comes to my care needs. 🤝

Times and days seeking support include:

📆 Monday to Sunday: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Overnight shifts.

Most shifts are either 5-8 hours in length.

Ideally, I need someone who has availability to support me throughout the week during the following times:

🕰️ 6:30am -1:30pm
🕰️ 1:30pm – 10:00pm
🕰️ 5:00pm – 10:00pm
🕰️ 10:00pm – 6:30am

If you feel that you are the right person to join my team or would like to find out more about what I am looking for please reach out and apply for the role so we can discuss further. 📩

As a Support Worker you will need to be well organised, reliable, possess excellent interpersonal skills, be available to provide consistent flexible support and commit to a long-term employment relationship. Your personal qualities will include a caring, outgoing personality, a tolerant and empathetic disposition, and the ability to demonstrate initiative. 🙌

Essential requirements:
✅ NDIS Worker Screening Check
✅ First Aid
✅ Manual handling, experience and/or qualifications within the disability sector or similar
✅ A valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
