Mindfulness of breath is the ONLY way that we can change what is happening within our body.

I have found a couple of mindfulness of breath exercises that fit for me.

I need to both focus on something and breath for this to work for me. I either use the expand-a-ball (Hoberman sphere) or a pen and paper whilst breathing.

Do you have some exercises that work for you?

Whilst I haven't mastered the art of painting, I have many artworks in my office and at home.

For me, any artistic work is mindfulness in action. The process of concentration helps quieten the internal dialogue within.

It allows time to just be. If a thought does pop in, mindfulness teaches us that we do not have to engage. Acknowledge and keep doing what you are doing.

Mindfulness is a great tool, not only for mental health but for life.

I have many mindfulness exercises that assist in learning how to control the stressors of life.

The expand-a-ball (or Hoberman sphere) assists in mindfulness of breath and a 5 cent or 10 cent coin can be a mindfulness exercise to help focus and calm.

Mindfulness can be fun.

Mindfulness is such a great tool to quieten your mind.

Artistic endeavour's help this process.

Think mosaics, painting, gardening, bonsai.

Tonight is my weekly mosaic group and I can't wait to add to the gazing ball!

Offering support freely is a wonderful way to provide assistance to others.

Time, money, goods or services are resources that we may have to provide.

I give to the Ulysses Mildura annual toy run each and every year. This happened yesterday and the gifts were given by my partner to the Salvation Army to distribute locally.

Always happy to assist when I can.

The most difficult part of my treatment in 2020 was accepting support from others.

I had always been the caring person and at times, it is difficult to be the one receiving support.

Having said that, I am still overwhelmed and appreciative of ALL the support that my family had during that time.

A simple act of a bag of oranges did (and still does) reduced me to tears of happiness.

At times, we don't have the capacity to note that things aren't going so well.

To acknowledge this and provide permission to those in your support system - to have the gentle conversation, which enables you to get the support you need AT the time you need it most.

To allow your family and/or friends to throw you a life-saving device, WHEN and IF you need it.

I have a range of people/professionals that are part of my support system.

They are essential for my physical and mental wellbeing.

They are who I contact when in need.

Who is in your support system?

Not all of us had a "safe place" whilst either growing up and/or as an adult.

Although, we all can learn to have this and learn to have nurturing relationships.

Reach out if you would like to learn more about healthy relationship skills, including the relationship with yourself.

There are many "recipes" available to assist you in this.

In order to survive, we all need connection.

Not all family's are loving and supportive. We then need to find our own "tribe" in order to thrive and survive.

I know when I worked with young people in the schools, we often asked who their 5 people were.

The one(s) they could call in the early hours to pick them up.

The one(s) they could talk to about a really tough subject.

Who would have their back unconditionally.

I ask the same of you.......
