Happy Chinese New Year to all! ๐Ÿงงโœจ

As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, we step into a time traditionally associated with energy, momentum, freedom, and bold forward movement. In the Chinese zodiac, the Horse symbolizes strength, independence, resilience, and a spirited drive toward success. Itโ€™s a year that often rewards courage, adaptability, and decisive action.

The Year of the Horse is believed to bring dynamic change and fast-paced opportunities. Much like the Horse itself, this year encourages us to move confidently toward our goals, trust our instincts, and embrace growth. It can be a powerful time for career advancement, new ventures, travel, and personal breakthroughs. However, the swift energy of the Horse also reminds us to stay grounded, think before acting, and maintain balance amidst rapid developments.

To prepare for what the year may bring:

Set clear intentions and goals early on.
Be proactive rather than reactiveโ€”take the reins of your journey.
Stay adaptable, as opportunities may arise quickly.
Nurture relationships, as collaboration can amplify success.
Protect your well-being, balancing ambition with rest and reflection.

May this Year of the Horse bring you strength in your pursuits, wisdom in your decisions, happiness in your home, and prosperity in all that you do.

Wishing everyone a peaceful year of the Snake without any incidents ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿงง๐Ÿงง๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ

The Snake is associated with wisdom, charm, elegance and transformation. Those born in the year of the Snake are believed to be intuitive, strategic and intelligent, inclined to be serious and disinclined to be lazy.

2025 will be a good year to focus on study and personal development, and a good year to focus on accomplishing goals and aspirations.

Thank you all for another great year. I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday season.

Some may already know our trainee, Dr Ace, joined us in the clinic last month. Often too sleepy to join me in the clinic room, Ace still makes his presence felt by adding the soothing sounds of spontaneous crying and screaming from the room next door. But creating such a relaxing ambience is tiring work, and Ace is knackered.

Therefore, we will be taking a well earned break until the 6th of January.

Merry Xmas and a happy new year to all!

Happy Lunar New Year to all! Let us welcome the year of the Yang Wood Dragon!

The Dragon is one of the most auspicious signs in the Chinese zodiac because of its ability to swim, fly, walk on land, and travel between dimensions. The dragon represents power and courage, but is also a symbol of peace. The Wood element in Chinese Medicine exemplifies the energy of growth, change, and determination. This is a good year for daring moves, finding your strength, and new beginnings - starting a new business, or to begin growing, and expanding your hopes and dreams. It is a year to push your boundaries and take on new endeavours.

An Interesting read on Summer Seasonal Affective Disorder or Summer SAD and its treatment with herbal medicine.

Unlike the more well known Winter SAD which is due to lack of available sunlight, Summer SAD is due to an avoidance of sunlight added with a hot or humid environment. The main difference is that Summer SAD tends to present with poor appetite and insomnia, the opposite of Winter SAD.

If you've been bothered by the heat and are having trouble sleeping and eating, some foods you can add to your diet include:
pears, apples, watermelon, peach, figs, peas, string beans, tomatoes, bitter melon, white rice, dairy, walnut, chestnuts, pine nuts, honey, as well as leafy greens and even certain flowers either edible or in a tea.

Staying hydrated is also important with appropriate electrolytes and fresh juices are also beneficial at this time of year.

Call 0401698092 for herbal medicine consultations

This summer, a somewhat new clinical presentation was commonplace in my clinic and I received many questions from patients concerning this โ€œnewโ€ disorder: summer SAD. Summer seasonal affective disorder was in the daily news this past summer, as numerous areas of the country experienced oppressiv...
