🌟 How STA Can Create Meaningful Experiences – Anthony’s Trip to Ballarat 🌟
Short Term Accommodation (STA) through the NDIS offers so much more than just time away from home. It’s a chance for participants to explore new places, enjoy a change of routine, and build confidence and independence in a supportive setting.
Anthony recently had the opportunity to spend a few days in Ballarat with his support worker, Teegan. The trip was filled with simple but powerful moments that made it truly special. 🧳
From the moment they arrived, Anthony was engaged in planning how they’d spend their time. He enjoyed browsing local shops, choosing meals, and having the freedom to relax on his own terms.
The trip was a mix of fun activities and meaningful connection. Anthony chose a movie to see (The Karate Kid), and before the screening, they visited the War Memorial Arch and took in the local history. Later, at the Ballarat Wildlife Sanctuary, he lit up with excitement. He chatted about the animals, took heaps of photos to share when he got home, and showed a real curiosity and appreciation for the experience.
There was also time for exploring Sovereign Hill. Anthony enjoyed stepping back in time as he wandered through the old-style buildings and panned for gold, even finding a few tiny pieces. He also watched how gold is melted down and bought a special keepsake coin to remember the adventure.
It was clear how much Anthony valued this time away. He enjoyed the chance to explore new things, have new experiences, and feel a strong sense of independence and choice.
These are the moments that make STA so important. It’s not just a break from routine—it’s an opportunity to connect, discover, and grow.
If you think STA might be the right fit for you or someone you support, we’d love to help make it happen.
