Meet our little boy, Charlie 🩵
Born on the 25th August, arriving at 41 weeks, weighing 3.8kg (8p7o) & 54.5cm long. Labor was an amazing experience, with my waters breaking and contractions starting at 9.40pm on the Sunday night, coming consistently every 10min for the first hour, then every 5 minutes for the next few hours, we headed into the hospital at 1am on the Monday morning and by about 2.30am I was at 4cm dilated & thin (this was the only cervix check I had!) and with the help of the shower and my amazing fiancé & midwife, our little Charlie was born at 6.55am. My partner Domenic got to deliver Charlie and handed him up to my chest where we had amazing skin to skin contact and first breastfeed while the placenta made its way out. I did have to have a few stitches (which would have to have been my least favourite part of the whole birth and recovery), but otherwise everything has been great and we only have positive things to say about the whole thing. Our stay at the hospital was also lovely, we came home after 2 nights. It has been nearly 3 weeks now and we are all doing well, adjusting to it all but still in such awe of everything and him! Truly special 🥹🥰
I credit the experience to the lovely midwife we had, but also all the things I did throughout the pregnancy… movement and positioning being the biggest I believe, helping prep my body and bubs as best as possible. The whole labor I couldn’t be still, on the floor leaning over the birth ball constantly moving intuitively (also used the gas in that stage from 2am-5ish, and an amazing playlist). 🙏
I could talk for days about it all ❤️
