In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose touch with the quiet, meaningful moments that build strong bonds between parent and child. Join us for a Parent & Child Yin Yoga Class — a gentle, grounding experience designed to nurture connection, calm the nervous system, and invite stillness into your shared space.

Soothing, floor-based poses held for longer periods
Guided breathing and mindfulness to regulate emotions

🍃Stomach & Spleen Meridians in Yin Yoga 🌿

Part of the Earth Element in Traditional Chinese Medicine, these meridians support digestion, nourishment, and emotional grounding.

🌾 Stomach Meridian
Runs down the front body (face → legs → second toe).
Linked to digestion, energy, and worry.
🍠 Spleen Meridian
Runs up the inner legs to the chest.
Governs immunity, nutrient absorption, and overthinking.

⚖️ When Balanced:
Strong digestion & energy
Clear mind, emotional stability
Feeling grounded and supported

⚠️ When Imbalanced:
Bloating, fatigue, poor appetite
Worry, overthinking, co-dependence

🧘‍♂️ Yin Poses to Support These Meridians:
Butterfly (inner legs/spleen)
Saddle (quads/stomach)
Frog, Dragon, Twists

A beautiful Mantra you could use to support these meridians: “I am nourished. I am grounded.”

Urinary Bladder Meridian 💧
This meridian runs down the back of the body and is all about letting go—of stress, tension, fear, and emotional baggage.

✨ When it’s balanced, we feel:

Calm + clear-headed
Well-rested
Able to release what we don’t need (physically + emotionally)
Grounded in ourselves

😵‍💫 When it’s out of balance, we might feel:

Tense, especially in the neck, shoulders, or lower back
Restless, anxious, or stuck in fear
Overwhelmed or burned out
Trouble sleeping or letting go of things

🧘‍♀️ Why Yin Yoga helps:
The UB meridian flows through areas we target in yin—like the spine, hamstrings, and back body. Long holds + stillness help soften stuck tension and quiet the mind. It’s a reset for your whole system.

Letting go isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary. Yin gives your body (and your nervous system) permission to release, rest, and restore. 💙

It’s been a week of resetting the nervous system. Time to unwind. Putting my feet in the sand. Playing without the daily to do list. Catching waves (and falling many times), Being on my mat, guided by other yoga teachers and some much needed family time. A reminder of the feels to be present. 🌸☀️🏄‍♀️

The Magic of First Light 🌅

The first light of the morning holds a special kind of magic. As the world slowly awakens, we are gifted a calming glow.
This sacred time, my favourite time, often untouched by the chaos of the day, offers not just beauty, but so many benefits for our mind, body, and soul.

First light ☀️
- Boosts Mental Clarity
Stepping outside as the sun rises, when the air is fresh and crisp, can help clear your mind. Early light exposure helps regulate your circadian rhythm (better sleep patterns are created in the morning). Natural light in the morning signals your brain to release hormones that boost mood and helps in setting a positive tone for the day.

- Inspires Reflection and Gratitude
There’s something peaceful about the stillness of early morning. It’s an ideal time for reflection, meditation, or journaling. Observing the sunrise reminds us of nature’s beauty and offers a quiet moment to practice gratitude for the simple things in life.

- Energises the Body
Morning light exposure also stimulates the production of cortisol, a hormone that helps us feel awake and energized.

My personal goal is to gift myself first light every morning, a walk like this morning, maybe yoga outside instead of inside, my morning breathing outside instead of deep breaths inside (usually after the kids have got me already 🙈).
