Job opportunity – Complex Support Leader 📣📣

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Complex Support Leader (CSL) to join our growing team. This role will provide effective and efficient delivery of direct care services where a higher level of medical or clinical knowledge is needed.

Join our team and provide services that are flexible, person-centred and responsive to the unique needs and goals of both consumers and their carers, while leading a team of Active Support Assistants (ASAs) in delivering quality, customer-focused outcomes that support individual aspirations and complex support requirements.

Ideally you’ll have formal training or background in a health-related field (eg. Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, Diploma of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, while boasting demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex health or high-intensity support needs.

Our Aged Care and Community team met with Department of Health representatives Liz March, Ebon Young and Marita Chisholm to discuss recent changes to the Support at Home program.

We shared serious concerns about the changes introduced in November 2025, including increased administrative demands and less clear processes. Services are being asked to adapt quickly, while still ensuring people continue to receive the support they rely on.

We also raised the impact of changes to support inclusions, which have resulted in some participants losing access to services critical to their safety, independence and wellbeing. Changes to referral pathways were another key issue, with emerging gaps in support - particularly for people whose needs are increasing - placing added pressure on families, informal carers and frontline staff.

Our team highlighted that slower approvals, reduced inclusions and referral delays together are increasing the risk for participants, with concerns that people may deteriorate or be exposed to harm while waiting for decisions or supports to be reinstated.

We appreciate the Department of Health taking the time to listen to our feedback. Ensuring positive outcomes for participants must remain central to ongoing reform, and provider experience should play a key role in strengthening the Support at Home framework.

We were honoured to support Intereach and 's six-week Hot Wheelies program held earlier this year, which introduced participants to the fundamentals of wheelchair basketball.

The program also provided opportunities for people to engage with basketball, particularly those with:

🏀 Childhood-onset physical disabilities
🏀 Spinal cord injury
🏀 Secondary physical disabilities
🏀 Physical impairment that is not traditionally seen as a disability (eg. chronic conditions that prevent people from participating in their chosen sport)

We were only too happy to support the initiative by donating a bus for transport of participants, while several of our participants also took part in the program.

Congratulations to everyone involved on a great initiative!

👏👏 A big congratulations to our wonderful construction partners , who were named a finalist at the prestigious 2026 HIA Australian Housing Awards held this past weekend.

Garraway Developments was one of just nine national finalists recognised in the Specialised Housing category for its delivery of two custom‑built, SRS Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes in central Mildura.

The project involved the demolition of two ageing houses adjacent to Aldi on Fifteenth Street and their replacement with two purpose‑built units constructed to the SDA robust design category standard.

Do you know how to keep fish healthy and swimming strong? 🐟

We’re fishing for a little help with the pet fish at one of our homes.

Their tank has had a full glow-up – thoroughly cleaned, left to settle, water tested (pH, ammonia, nitrate all in the safe zone), plus fresh gravel and brand-new plants and decor. Everything looked shipshape… but we’re still having trouble keeping our fish happy and thriving.
