πŸ“£ Joint Statement from Disability Representative Organisations

Disability Representative Organisations have raised serious concerns about NDIA actions involving a person with disability, following their social media activity.

This situation has sparked important questions about the right to speak up and the security of essential supports under the NDIS.

🧩 People with disability should be able to express themselves without fear or consequence.

The organisations are calling for:
⚠️ An urgent, independent inquiry
⚠️ Release of legal advice
⚠️ A roundtable with Minister McAllister and the NDIA

This statement is backed by:

Children and Young People with Disability Australia

Australian Autism Alliance

AFDO - Australian Federation Of Disability Organisations

Community Mental Health Australia

First Peoples Disability Network

People with Disability Australia

Disability Advocacy Network Australia - DANA

Inclusion Australia

Joint Statement from DROs calling for NDIA accountability.

Disability Representative Organisations are calling out the NDIA’s actions to remove a person with disability from the NDISβ€”triggered, in part, by what they posted on social media.

This crosses a line.

People with disability must be free to speak up without fear of losing essential supports. We’re calling for:
⚠️ An urgent, independent inquiry
⚠️ Release of legal advice
⚠️ A roundtable with Minister McAllister and the NDIA

NDIS Pricing Update – Sector Impact

A recent Herald Sun article by Julie Cross has raised concerns about the ongoing sustainability of Support Coordination and Plan Management under the latest NDIS pricing decisions.

πŸ” Key points:
πŸ”Ή Prices have been cut in real terms for the 7th consecutive year
πŸ”Ή The Fair Work Commission’s wage increase has not been passed on
πŸ”Ή Changes were made without consultation with participants, families, or providers
πŸ”Ή Establishment and rural/remote loadings for Plan Management have been removed with less than 2 weeks’ notice
πŸ”Ή Support Coordination and Plan Management pricing has not been benchmarked against similar services in other sectors (e.g., Aged Care, TAC, WorkCover)

In 2023, over 600 Support Coordination providers closedβ€”a trend that may continue if these pressures persist.

Support Coordinators and Plan Managers are a vital part of the NDIS ecosystem. They help participants navigate the system, build capacity, and ensure supports are implemented effectively.
