3 Common Occupational Therapy Myths Busted with Physio Inq! 💡

Physio Inq Occupational Therapists work with people to complete the activities that they need and want to do each and every single day, with the goal of personalisation being at the forefront. However there are several misconceptions about what OTs do and how it can be beneficial.

Let's break down some of the most common myths:

❌ Myth 1: OT is only for basic self-care tasks
✅ Truth: OTs support people to build skills and independence in all areas of daily life, from self-care and home tasks to work, education, and community participation.

❌ Myth 2: OT is only for people recovering from injuries
✅ Truth: OTs work with people of all ages and abilities, supporting those with disabilities, chronic conditions, mental health needs, and anyone wanting to improve their daily function and quality of life.

❌ Myth 3: Children will catch up on their own without OT support
✅ Truth: Early OT intervention helps children build confidence, develop motor and sensory skills, and thrive at home and school.

✨ Our occupational therapists are here to empower clients to live life their way.

🌟 Meet our newest therapists starting this month 🌟

💛 Katie M – Exercise Physiologist
Katie is passionate about helping clients manage their conditions, overcome discomfort, and build confidence in their own abilities. She values creating strong working relationships and is always seeking to learn something new to better support those she works with. Outside of work, Katie’s life is full of movement – from teaching Pilates and gym sessions to chasing after her two kids and two dogs. Fun fact: her wardrobe is 95% activewear!

💛 Heidi C – Occupational Therapist
Heidi’s expertise spans physical rehabilitation, assistive technology, and aged care. She loves connecting with clients to understand their goals and help them live more independently. Her curiosity extends beyond OT, with a passion for learning languages – she’s trilingual and on a 655-day Duolingo streak! She also enjoys staying active, recently picking up tennis and eyeing Brazilian jiu jitsu as her next challenge.

We’re thrilled to welcome Katie and Heidi to the Physio Inq team. 💛

This week (6–13 July), we come together to recognise and celebrate NAIDOC Week, a time to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a chance for all Australians to learn from and reflect on the strength, knowledge and resilience of First Nations communities.

This year marks a significant milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC celebrations.
The 2025 theme is: "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy."

This theme celebrates the achievements of the past and the promise of the future, led by the strength of young Indigenous leaders, guided by the vision of their communities and grounded in the enduring legacy of their ancestors. It also recognises the role we all play in supporting self-determination, truth-telling and equity for future generations.

To learn more about the theme and the importance of NAIDOC week, please visit the NAIDOC week website.

Our SA team has hit the ground running - literally! 🏃‍♀️🐶❄️

Occupational Therapist Madeline, a keen runner herself, kickstarted a run/walk club to keep the team moving and connected through the cooler months 🍂💬.

Each week after work, a group of dedicated Physio Inq runners and walkers meet up. Some with prams, some with pups, and all with positive vibes ✨

From icy 4° chills to sunny 33° evenings, there's always been a crew ready to stretch their legs and support each other 💪💛.

We love seeing this kind of community and initiative from our team! 🙌

At Physio Inq, our heart goes out to the dedicated allied health professionals, support workers, and businesses: Both our incredible team and our valued colleagues across the NDIS community who are navigating the challenges brought by recent NDIS pricing changes.

We know these adjustments have placed significant pressure on providers, with rising operational costs and stretched budgets impacting the ability to deliver the high-quality, person-centred care that participants deserve.

To our employees: Your resilience, passion, and commitment to improving the lives of our clients inspire us every day. We’re here to support you, ensuring you have the resources and environment to thrive while delivering exceptional physiotherapy, exercise physiology, and allied health services.

To our fellow NDIS providers: We see your tireless efforts to balance sustainability with participant outcomes, and we stand in solidarity with you as we advocate for fairer pricing that reflects the true cost of quality care.

To the courageous NDIS participants: We understand the recent NDIS pricing changes may create uncertainty about your services, and we’re here to support you. At Physio Inq, we’re committed to working closely with you to minimise any impact, ensuring you continue receiving the high-quality allied health care you need to achieve your goals.

These changes affect not just businesses but the heart of our sector; the people who make a difference and the participants they support. We’re committed to working with the NDIA, advocacy groups, and our community to push for pricing that supports sustainable services, protects jobs, and prioritises participant outcomes. Together, we can ensure the NDIS remains a lifeline for those who rely on it, as these changes will impact them the most.

If you’re feeling the impact, know that you’re not alone. Let’s keep the conversation going. Share your thoughts, and let’s advocate for a stronger, fairer NDIS.

Live A Life With Less Limits

Physio Inq is on a mission; push Allied Health Care in a new direction and recreate the client experience for every single Australian.

Established in 2006, originally limited to the western suburbs of Sydney, Physio Inq is now Australia wide with its own new unique & innovating physiotherapy franchising model as well as its mobile and home allied health team spread thick and thin across Australia.

With a long established history of setting the bar extremely high with regards to client satisfaction, we are continually evolving and responding to the desires of our ever-changing market. Clients are more savvy, more time poor and have a much higher degree of sophistication than ever before. No longer do they want to accept the old-fashioned way of doing medical, they want a change. We wanted change and wanted to evolve.

So our team set about redesigning the customer experience to make it more seamless, simpler, more in line with their high standards of aesthetics, improved programs, increased lines of communication and a total care philosophy that we live by every day. Physio Inq at its core is now a Franchisor, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology & Speech Pathology provider.
