Welcoming a New Chapter with a Familiar Face: Meet Liza

Many of you already know Liza as a dedicated presence in our shala. After completing her 500-hour Ashtanga Teacher Training right here at North Sydney Yoga, and holding an additional 500-hour Diploma of Yoga Studies, Liza wishes to give back to the community she loves.

With over 30 years of personal practice across both Hatha and Ashtanga traditions, Liza has created the Hatha/Vinyasa Foundation Program as an accessible doorway into yoga. Whether you are looking for a gentler entry point to traditional Ashtanga or simply wish to explore the fundamentals of stable alignment and breath, Liza’s patient, deep-rooted knowledge will support your journey.

The 12 week yoga program will have a focus every week and not to worry and will be running continuous through the year so you can join in anytime.

In the rhythm of Ashtanga, we cultivate strength, heat, and focus. A sound bath offers the perfect counterbalance — an invitation to soften, listen, and deeply rest.

Through the gentle layering of resonant sound, the nervous system is guided out of “doing” and into “being.” Vibrations move through the body with ease, helping to release stored physical tension, quiet mental chatter, and create space for emotional unwinding. Without effort or control, the body is allowed to reset and restore.

This calming tranquillity supports recovery, enhances breath awareness, and refines our sensitivity — preparing us for the more subtle practices of yoga, where awareness becomes as important as movement.

A grounding pause. A nervous system reset. A beautiful complement to dynamic practice.
