“Kidney Disease is more than a wee problem” 🚻 IPCIUM stand together with Kidney Health Australia in recognising the importance of taking collective action to help in raising awareness of the largely symptomless nature of kidney disease, in pursuit of engaging the 1.8 million Australians unaware they are living with kidney disease.

By understanding the risk factors contributing to the development of Kidney Disease, we can help raise awareness across our communities by harnessing the power of early intervention and requesting a Kidney Health Check from our GP.

IPCIUM are working hard to support our primary health care system by developing evidence-based, high quality and accessible digital health care solutions. With a focus upon empowering individuals living with chronic conditions such as Kidney Diseases, with the knowledge, skills and tools required to improve their health literacy and achieve healthier and more productive lives.

Diabetes or high blood pressure are the underlying cause in 50% of kidney failure cases.

A kidney failure diagnoses results in the need for sudden, serious, and life-changing interventions to stay alive. Life quality quickly becomes a thing of the past for people sentenced to years on dialysis – connected to a machine that slowly cleans out all the toxins from the blood 3 times a week, 5 hours a day. It’s a life sentence for the patient and their families.

Share the Kidney Risk Test with your friends, family and colleagues to help diagnose them early. https://pulse.ly/is8bm5kbw9

📣 In support of , IPCIUM are helping Diabetes UK spread their message of inspiring more people to of Developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Within Australia, IPCIUM uses the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk assessment tool (AUSDRISK) a short list of questions designed to help health professionals and individuals understand their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes over the next 5 years.

Your Health Care Practitioner (HCP) may have already administered this test during one of your health checks. Both the UK Tool and the AUS Tool are free, short and accessible T2D risk screening tools designed to help you recognise and understand your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

This , will you share this post and help us inspire more people to use our tool?

âť— Knowing your risk of developing type 2 could give you the chance to prevent a diagnosis altogether. It could mean you're diagnosed sooner, more likely to achieve remission, and less likely to develop complications later.

đź’™ Will you help us spread the word far and wide, and encourage your loved ones to find out their risk? It only takes two minutes, but it could change a life: https://orlo.uk/wq7Im

Or head into your local Tesco pharmacy and speak to a member of their team about understanding your risk.

📣 It's time to Exercise Right! IPCIUM is supporting Exercise Right Week, an annual awareness campaign powered by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), the peak body for exercise and sport science professionals in Australia. Established in 2014, the campaign highlights the important role exercise plays in health and wellbeing and supports Australians to access the “right” advice for their individual needs.

Together with ESSA, IPCIUM will be bringing you “The Right Advice” (May 22nd to May 28th), sharing daily pointers for individuals interested in learning how to integrate regular physical activity and exercise as a useful tool to support the management of their chronic disease.

Living with chronic disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and multiple comorbidities, can impact our ability to exercise safely, which is why it is invaluable to consult with a suitably experienced, tertiary-qualified professional such as an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), ESSA Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) or ESSA Accredited Sport Scientist (ASpS).

26/04/2023

Anzac Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the Social Determinates of Health. In particular, the health inequalities experienced by our veteran population. With ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members having a higher prevalence of chronic disease (long-term health conditions) compared with those non-serving Australians (AIHW, 2022).

IPCIUM understand that the Social Determinants of Health is one of the most significant factors in the development and prevalence of Chronic Disease (both physical and mental) for individuals across the world, playing a critical role in our long-term health outcomes, quality of life, risk factors and comorbidity development.

The World Health Organization (WHO) describes Social Determinants of Health as, “the non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life. These forces and systems include economic policies and systems, development agendas, social norms, social policies and political systems”.

Highlighted by the prevalence of Chronic Disease within our Australian Veteran population, who experience higher rates of:

🌏 Obesity & Overweight (75% compared with 61%)
🌏 Arthritis (33% compared with 12%)
🌏 Back problems (31% compared with 19%)
🌏 Mental Health & Behavioural conditions (27% compared with 17%)
🌏 Heart, stroke &vascular disease (15% compared with 5.9%)
🌏 Diabetes (14% compared with 6.9%)
🌏 Cancer (6.7% compared with 2.6%)
🌏 Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD2) (3.6% compared with 1.0%)
IPCIUM are bringing innovative new equitable digital healthcare solutions to the global healthcare market to support those individuals (including our Veterans) who are facing the daily challenges of managing multiple co-morbidities. Equipping & empowering individuals living with chronic disease, with the skills, knowledge and tools required to manage their care pathways and live healthier & more productive lives.
