Last night we danced for Connection… For opening rather than closing when times are hard. For connection to self and to others. For love not division.

We danced through an elemental wave to work through our own stuff, so our healing can ripple out into the world and so we can all shine brighter, feeling lighter from what we have shed through our transformation in the dance.

The playlist was crafted with a prayer. That food reaches the people of Gaza today, that the innocent people who are being targeted because they were born there can begin to rebuild in peace. That somehow with our support they can begin to heal from the horror one day, of what has happened to them and their world for all of these months too long.

All proceeds from the night go to support the drive by to raise funds this month for children in Gaza. With love šŸ™šŸ•Šļøā˜®ļø

Connection… it’s one of the fundamental needs we have as humans and one of the main things I hear people talking about when they talk about their lives. The biggest gift is to feel truly connected to ourselves, to another, to family, to meaning and to a tribe.

After a five month deep dive into a beautiful circle of women’s work it’s time to open up the dance and connect once again - so on Sunday July 27 we’re holding space at the studio for a dance for the community!

We’ll be dancing to raise money for the Al-Jawad Camp in Gaza, an organisation that are raising funds to create space for dignity, for education, for yoga and for care for children who are living amongst the devastation that has been wreaked on the lands in which they were born.

This one’s for the people of Gaza with 100% of proceeds from the evening to be donated to along with the rest of the funds has raised this month.

We’ll be dancing to drop into our bodies and to go within to find what is real for us: to dance out our deepest truths and to dance for connection, for community and to send our thoughts, prayers and some financial support to children who are suffering from unimaginable devastation.

Dancing freedom is a living lineage that honours our interior world as well as the world around us, cultivating our awareness, our connection to self and others and to support us to move whatever is present for us.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, fitness, background, coordination level, physical ability - anyone can join in this space where there is no judgment and you can’t do it wrong!

Good to know:
- 27 July at 4.30pm
- Wear comfortable clothes for dancing
- We’ll be leaving our shoes at the door
- Bring water for drinking
- Approximate running time will be 1.5hrs
- Please bring a cash donation to leave the door - whatever you can manage from around $20 would be amazing

Many thanks and hope to see you there šŸ™

ā€œYou are allowed to begin again from love.ā€ I read these words at risingwoman.com while reflecting on the New Moon and setting my intentions for the next cycle this week - and they feel fitting following on from the Winter Solstice spiral we walked at the final gathering of Create Connect Move last Sunday.

At each of the five monthly womanly circles, we met to dance and to create art as we explored a different element and theme. We discussed our hopes as well as our fears, we cried and we laughed and connected in that womanly way that is magic, when we are held in safety within the sacred space of a women’s circle.

I got to hold space for the most incredible, wise and true group of women I could have ever hoped to have called in - and they showed up with everything and I am so so grateful!

We walked the spiral to release something no longer needed, so we could return with space for growth and expansion. So I love the synchronicity of the theme of the New Moon this week being all about beginning with nurturing and love. That’s what we do with our babies and seedlings right - protect and honour them while they grow?

We released something that was weighing us down, so we could make space to birth something new, so we can all begin the next cycle with love, so we can shine brighter and each share our magic with the world, feeling lighter. I feel the world needs more of this right now.

This Create Connect Move series will be back!

I am always too caught up in the moment to take many photos when I’m holding space, but here are a couple!

Spent some time outside today, writing and grounding myself out in my favourite sit spot, and getting super clear on the final details of my new program I’ll be launching - details drop tomorrow! Super happy to be bringing this to the studio, will be a blend of all of the things I have been studying and the modalities I believe in. That make life juicy and growth happen, for me. Birthing this has involved my normal process of stopping and starting and sitting with it, some weeks unable to find flow, until it all unfolds, all of a sudden. So relieved she is finally ready. Create. Connect. Move. Let’s go. Can’t wait to share more! Watch this space xx

After a nourishing break I’m back work in the studio with Kasi Therapies today, ready to bring ideas and inspiration into 2025!

These words from Young Pueblo are resonating for me and so I thought i would share -

ā€œpick the path that lights you up.
the one that you know deep down is
the right choice. stop listening to doubt. start connecting with courage. do not let the idea of normal get in the way. it may not be the easy path, but you know great things take effort. lean into your determination. lean into your mission.
lean into the real youā€

Pathways and choices, authenticity, courage, connection to what is true and finding balance through letting go of the things that are not helpful - such big themes for me. And it’s the first full moon of the year so the perfect time to let go of some old ā€˜stuff’, so we can make space for what most deeply resonates.

Love to hear from you about your themes and intentions for this week, this month or this year, and if you want support with connecting to your path and what is most important to you, please reach out xx

For the love of summer!

Love you to join us to dance with the theme ā€˜Expansion’ on the first calendar day of summer - Sunday December 1.

We’ll be marking the transition from spring, dancing to shed whatever we need to let go of to continue to expand with the longer warmer days as we move towards the solstice. We’ll be dancing to drop into our bodies and so we can find what is real for us.

When we drop into our bodies, we can relax into our deepest truth and find the beauty that shines from moving into authenticity and the integrity of who we really are.

ā€œDrop the idea of becoming someone, because you are already a masterpiece. You cannot be improved. You have only to come to it, to know it, to realise it.ā€
OSHO

Dancing freedom is a living lineage that honours our interior worlds as well as the world around us, cultivating our awareness, our connection to self and others and to support us to move whatever is present for us. We can dance through our joy as well as our sorrow and our fears into love and embodying who we really are and what we are capable of. To dance like no one is watching, to remember who we are in our essence.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, fitness, background, coordination level, physical ability - anyone can join in this space where there is no judgment and you can’t do it wrong!

Good to know:

It’s been a while since I introduced myself and I want to say hi! I’m Naomi, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker - and while I am trained in a number of modalities, the lens of Social Work informs everything I do.

When I first decided to study my degree, social justice principles were foremost as I wanted to make my services accessible. I knew through my work as an Art Therapist that I loved working to support people with their mental health. What I didn’t know was that Social Work principles would resonate so deeply with my values!

I love that one of the defining principles of the Social Work lens involves looking at people within the context of their environment - because one thing I know for sure is that we do not exist (easily) in isolation from others - we all have a fundamental need for connection.

We are deeply impacted by the people who surround us and the environments we traverse. Some of the things we gain along our paths are gifts, and some things are horrible. There are a multitude of factors that come into play around how we deal with the horrible parts and a lot of it can’t be explained by biology. There isn’t one treatment pathway that works for every person with the same mental health concern as a result.

Social Work has taught me as a mental health practitioner, to look for people’s strengths while at the same time looking at what isn’t working so that we can scaffold supports around people to amplify their strengths, and to provide strategies and supports around what isn’t working so people can move forward to live their best life.

The Social Work lens views the problem as the problem - the person is not the problem and no one, need be defined by what isn’t working in their life. The problem is a part of what is happening and with this in mind I ask questions around how might we work together so you can move forward to live your best life? What strategies can I share that you might take up that will support you to navigate your challenges?

One thing that I know for sure, is that with the right supports, strategies and tools, we are all capable of incredible healing.

If you feel called to find out more about any of my offerings, please PM me and I can book in a time with you for a complimentary 15min phone consult and we can discuss whatever you have going on, and how we might work together. I also have a website with more information around how I work - link is in bio!

Hope you are having a sunshine-filled day! Xx
