🌎 World Diabetes Day – 14 November

This year’s theme — “Diabetes across life stages” — highlights that diabetes can affect anyone, from kids to seniors, and underscores the importance of tailored care, emotional support, and healthy environments at every age.

📊 Did you know?
🔹 Around 589 million adults globally live with diabetes, that’s 1 in 9 people and projections show it could reach 853 million by 2050.
🔹 In Australia alone, 1.7 million people (about 7.4% of adults) are living with diabetes a number that’s been steadily climbing.
🔹 Shockingly, nearly half of all cases worldwide are undiagnosed, meaning millions are at risk without even knowing it.

🎯 Why it matters:
🔹Diabetes affects every stage of life and good care means more than medicine. It means community, emotional well‑being, and accessible support systems.
🔹Early detection and lifestyle habits can make a huge difference, especially in preventing Type 2 diabetes.

🔵 Let’s raise awareness today — for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. Learn the signs, start the conversation, and stand with those living with diabetes.💙

"Mental Health is a Universal Human Right"

Today is a reminder that mental health matters — for everyone, everywhere.
Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It influences how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Yet, many people still struggle in silence.

Here are 5 simple strategies to support your mental wellbeing:

🌿 Stay Connected – Talk to someone you trust. Connection reduces isolation.
🏃‍♀️ Move Your Body – Regular physical activity boosts mood and reduces anxiety.
📝 Practice Mindfulness – Even 5 minutes of deep breathing or journaling can help.
💤 Prioritise Sleep – Rest is essential for emotional regulation and resilience.
🤝 Seek Support – Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

At Ulladulla Support Services, we’re committed to creating a community where mental health is understood, supported, and respected. Whether you're reaching out for yourself or someone you care about, you're not alone.

💬 Let’s keep the conversation going.

"True strength is standing together, lifting each other up, and never forgetting where we come from."

Although NAIDOC Week has come to an end, its meaning and message continue to resonate deeply within our community.

We’re incredibly proud of our team members Lisa and Ree, and Rowena who represented Ulladulla Support Services at the Ngulla NAIDOC Festival. Their presence, warmth, and commitment reflect the heart of what we do—standing with community, honouring culture, and supporting one another with respect and strength.

NAIDOC is more than a week of celebration—it's a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. We carry those values with us throughout the year, not just in words, but in action.

To everyone who came together at the festival—thank you for sharing stories, laughter, and connection.

Let’s continue to listen, learn, and walk together.
