We recently welcomed RN and midwife Gina Sheedy to Milton Medical Centre. Gina is kind, compassionate, ultra qualified and a joy to have in our team. She is working casually in our nurses station and our antenatal clinic.
Originally from Kogarah, Sydney, Gina has extensive experience working as an enrolled nurse in Paediatrics, Mothercraft, Surgical and Operating Theatres.
After completing her studies as a Registered Nurse in 2012, Gina has experience working in various specialties, including lCU, Angiography, Anaesthetics, Operating Theatres, and PACU. After graduating her Diploma in Midwifery with Distinction at WSU, Gina has over a decade of experience caring for women and their families antenatally, in Birth Unit, postnatally, special care nursery, NICU and the MAPS program. Gina went on to develop the role of Skin-to-Skin Midwife at Nepean Hospital and completed a research project on the benefits of skin to skin at birth. Her Journal article was published in 2022 and cited by UNICEF. She has gone on to complete the Australasian Lactation Course.
Gina relocated to Milton with her husband and dogs, Daisy and Kobe in 2022. They enjoy daily walks on the beach, snorkeling and travelling to amazing places. Gina appreciates the friendly and diverse community in Milton and is looking forward to supporting the community in her role. Her special interests lie in maternal and infant health, breastfeeding and supporting the LGBTQIA + community.
