❌BEACH CLOSED!❌ Just when we thought we would see a whole summer season without a beach closure due to box jellyfish, our patrol members catch this big boxie during a stinger drag this morning on the second last day of the patrol season. 🚫No swimming for 24 hours🚫 Always remember to swim at patrolled beaches and talk to the lifesavers on duty! PLEASE SHARE.

STONEFISH ALERT: Lifeguards have treated two people for stonefish stings today.

The first was a 27-year-old man at Bulcock Beach in Caloundra, with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) transporting the patient to hospital.

Not long after, a second sting occurred at Tallebudgera Creek on the Gold Coast, with lifeguards removing a stonefish barb from a 35-year-old woman.

This takes our total to 4 reported stonefish stings in just 8 days, with an 11-year-old girl stung yesterday & a 12-year-old girl stung last week, both also at Tallebudgera Creek 🐡

To learn more about these spiky marine creatures, and how to treat their painful sting, check out our fact sheet at http://bit.ly/2mvEyoz
