Live from the LapD Anatomy Dissection Course for AGES - thrilled to be here as faculty, guiding fellow surgeons through the intricate and essential world of gynecological anatomy! 🫀🔍

Teaching anatomy isn’t just about naming structures - it’s about empowering gynecologists with the depth of knowledge needed for precision, confidence and ultimately safer care for women. Every nerve, vessel and layer matters when it comes to surgical excellence.

The more we know, the better we operate. The better we operate, the safer our patients are.

Another excellent AGES Focus Meeting last weekend and this time in the picturesque city of Hobart. It was a full weekend of inspiring presentations, board meetings and discussing essential areas of gynecology. I thoroughly enjoyed delivering a presentation on Robotic Myomectomy. We also celebrated our talented SMIGS fellow, Dr Sireen Jaber who passed her final AGES exams. Congratulations to you Sireen! You’re a hardworking, conscientious and skilled doctor and we are lucky to have you working with us! 🫶 🎉

I’m so proud of the first SMIGS multidisciplinary endometriosis conference to run in the Sutherland Shire, Endo Together. After a full day of community expert speakers, we had over 50 attendees who are now inspired and armed with new skills that will go on to help a huge number of women.

Thank you to everyone who attended, my colleagues, multidisciplinary team, GP liaison officers from Kareena and St George private hospitals and our sponsors.

Anatomy, anatomy and more anatomy! Anatomy was the theme of this weekend’s Lap D (Laparoscopic Pelvic Anatomy Demonstration) Workshop in Brisbane. Personally I find teaching surgical anatomy to be so exciting!

By increasing their anatomical knowledge and awareness, doctors are able to provide improved surgical outcomes and reduced complications for their patients.

I thoroughly enjoyed running the recent AGES trainee workshop weekend teaching the next generation of gynecologists. It was an incredible opportunity for trainees to enhance skills, work through hands-on activities and network with peers.

Tomorrow on Thursday 9 May 2024, I’ll be speaking at education evening that will be available to watch on Instagram live alongside The Dao Health practitioners Elizabeth Cullen .thedao , Molly Burton and Clarice Berry . We will be sharing insights into treatment options for endometriosis, the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach and more. There will be a live Q&A panel and I welcome anyone who would like to ask questions on the topic to post them here or to send me a DM and we will do our best to answer your questions.

The Instagram live is scheduled to run from 6.45pm AEST.

Endometriosis is a complex multifactorial condition and providing patients with the best care takes a multidisciplinary approach with expertise from physiotherapy, dietetics, acupuncture and endometriosis specialists. This morning our multidisciplinary endometriosis unit had a productive meeting to discuss ways to improve patient care and management.
