Due to the weather conditions, we have had to make the hard decision to cancel the Parents Information Session scheduled for this Friday 6th March. We will hopefully be holding this session at a later date for parents to know where and how to connect with services within the Cassowary Coast.

Yesterday, September 11th, was R U OK DAY! 🖤💛

This day is a reminder for us that a conversation can make a huge difference. As speech therapists, we want to highlight that these interactions do not need to be a verbal conversation, but rather, checking in on others can be done through various forms of communication from a hand written note, a text message, a drawing or even a thumbs up/ down. 🌼

Let’s use our voices, our words, our actions, not only on R U OKAY day, but EVERYDAY, to remind others that they are not alone.

This week we celebrate the work that Speech Pathologists do in working alongside individuals, families and communities to achieve communication goals. Whether it is supporting a child with a developmental language delay, helping someone recover their speech after a stroke, or assisting someone to communicate in daily life, speech pathologists foster connections, understanding, and participation! Every year, we’re reminded just how magical stories are in a child’s life. Book week isn’t just about the costumes - it’s about celebrating the power of books in shaping how kids learn, communicate and imagine. ⭐️

Books play a huge role in a child’s language and literacy development. Shared reading helps children:

🔎 Build new vocabulary
🤓 Strengthen listening and comprehension skills
🔮 Stretch their imagination and creativity
📕 Connect with others through shared stories and discussions

In a world where screens are constantly competing for attention, books offer something irreplaceable: time to slow down, explore new ideas and dream beyond what’s right in front of us 🐉
