Eve Yoga I know it’s probably a little audacious to name a style of yoga after oneself. But after 50 years of yoga practice, it’s not one thing. Yoga has become me.

When I first was learning yoga (50+) years ago, I just wanted to loosen my hamstrings and open my hips. It took me some time to realise there was so much more to yoga: pranayama, meditation, relaxation, yoga nidra. I discovered I needed to foster more strength than suppleness as I was already flexible. Here's a class that offers a great mixture of strength, balance and flexibility.

Working with the legs is important for fostering flexibility and strength for anyone. In our younger years, we we tend to engage in exercise by participating...

I had reason to dip into my blog posts on eveyoga.com today. I stumbled across my collection of posts relating to the yoga sutras of Patanjali. (If you are not familiar with this old sage, check out my website.)

There are about 196 of these posts, one for each of Patanjali's sutras and each with my observations. I wrote one a day for 9 months, using 9 different commentaries. I mean everyday of the week! Some days I was awake till midnight, trying to understand some very terse material.

Herein is the first sutra, which could lead you to all the rest, if you like to read yoga philosophy and how it might relate to us in this day and age. Most is still relevant.

If Patanjali were alive during this age of the internet, would he have succumbed to blogging? And, if so, would he have ended up being as pithy in his writing? Would readers want to spend days/weeks/months unraveling each of his sutra? Or, would readers, sensing it would be hard work, just want to m...

We had the honor of recording Carole Baillargeon leading a zoom pranayama class in my yoga studio last week. Even though the video is a bit lower res than our other videos, you will love the content and the journey to Self that this senior yoga teacher takes you on.

This 50 minute class led by Carole Baillargeon is a gem that takes you on an inward journey towards your essential Being. In the style of Iyengar pranayama, ...

I once heard the sides of our bodies--side ribs, side waist, sides of your hips--called the lonely parts because they never get moved and stretched.
This video is a lovely wake up for the sides, the lateral body...to help them be wakened and lonely no more.

Do you know the word 'pandiculation'? It's a fancy term for the simple stretching we do to wake up the body...first thing in the morning perhaps with a yawn,...
