20/04/2023

Dear Patients,

We continue to offer covid testing at our practice each weekday between 9am and 1pm. This can be bulk-billed if you have attended our centre in the past 12 months to see a doctor. If you have not then there is a charge of $70.

Here are some Frequently asked questions and answers:

Covid Testing Hours
Monday to Friday: 9am to 1pm

What services do you provide?
We Assess, Test and Diagnose Covid-19, Influenza and other Respiratory Conditions.

If I have symptoms, what do I do?
Please call the practice on 4872 3933 prior to attending. A telehealth consultation will be organised with one of our doctors. Please do not attend the centre until you have spoken with a doctor and the doctor has organised a referral.

Where is the COVID testing?
When entering the ground floor of the practice, there is an isolation room opposite the pharmacy. A nurse will be present to test you after a referral has been provided by one of our doctors.

Can you COVID test for overseas travelers?
No, we are unable to test patients who require a COVID test for overseas travel.

What happens if I have tested positive for COVID-19?
You will receive a text message directly from pathology. If you are positive please call the practice to arrange a further telehealth appointment with on of our doctors.

How long does it take to get my result?
Pathology will text you your result as soon as it has been processed. This is currently less than 24 hours.

Does testing cost anything?
We can bulk-bill for patients who have seen one of our doctors in the past 12 months. If you have not seen one of our doctors in the past 12 months the cost is $70.

Today marks our final day at the Respiratory Clinic. We will close at 5pm. We would like to thank our doctors, nurses and admin staff who have worked tirelessly for the past 3 years, testing and treating thousands and thousands of patients. We have had days that we have tested and treated 5 patients and other days that we have treated over 600 patients, so it has definitely been a challenge, and our staff have always stepped up when required.

The commonwealth government has placed us on call to re-open should the need arise in future.

We will still conduct testing from an isolation area within the healthcare centre, but ask that all patients phone the healthcare centre on 4872 3933 to arrange a telehealth consultation with a doctor first (as the testing area will not always be staffed and will require an appointment). Please note: only patients that have attended the healthcare centre in the past 12 months are eligible for a telehealth consultation (medicare rules).

Our clinic is open everyday over the Christmas/New Year period, except for Christmas Day. Our hours remain 8am till 5pm.

Local covid cases are currently high, and we are caring for hundreds of patients who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Please note: Our clinic is not impacted by the change in PCR testing from 1 January, as with us, our patients have always consulted a GP.

On behalf of our doctors and nurses we would like to wish you all a Merry and a safe Christmas. Please remember that if you feel unwell or have symptoms stay home, and do not attend any gatherings.

Testing numbers have dropped considerably in the past week, however the percentage of positive tests has dramatically increased. 34% of patients testing yesterday were positive to covid.
Please do not delay getting tested if you have symptoms. Over the weekend we had a number of very sick patients who were not tested until day 5 of their symptoms which meant that they were too late for treatment.
We continue to be open everyday from 8am to 5pm with a doctor always on-site to provide treatment/ certificates/ advice.

Covid Numbers are rising across NSW, but also in the Southern Highlands. In recent days more than 30% of patients testing with us are positive for Covid-19. Please get tested as soon as possible after symptoms commence. We are seeing some vulnerable patients wait too long to be tested, which is effecting their treatment options and also spreading the virus.

We are open everyday from 8am until 5pm, and provide full follow up care to all those with positive results.

We also test for all respiratory illnesses, including Influenza A and B, RSV and Rhinovirus.
