If you’ve visited our Urgent Care Clinic, there’s a good chance you’ve met Tegan Moore – a calm, skilled and compassionate nurse who’s there to help people in need of immediate care.
As a Registered Nurse, Tegan works alongside a GP to provide urgent, but non-emergency, medical support. Tegan assesses patients, helps them get the care they need, and teaches them about their health.
Every day is different — and that’s what she loves most about her job.
“No two days are the same,” says Tegan.
“We see a wide variety of patient presentations. That variety keeps the work interesting, and I really enjoy the one-on-one care with patients in this setting.”
Tegan brings a wealth of experience to her role, having previously worked in emergency nursing. Now, she’s studying to become a sonographer — all while raising her seven-year-old and wrangling two very energetic dogs!
Her biggest surprise since joining LCHS?
“Learning never stops. This role has opened my eyes to just how many barriers people face when trying to access healthcare.”
Tegan works with people from all parts of the community—from babies to older adults—and says free, local services like the Urgent Care Clinic is essential, especially in regional areas.
“Affordability, transport, low health literacy and a lack of providers are big challenges for people in our region. Knowing I can help someone overcome those barriers, even in a small way, means a lot.”
When asked what advice she’d give to anyone thinking of a career in nursing, Tegan’s message is clear.
“Education equals opportunity. If you're thinking of studying but worried about the cost, apply for every grant and scholarship you can—there’s so much support out there that goes unused.”
Thanks for all you do, Tegan. You help make our community a stronger, healthier place to live! See less
